    How to determine folder size

I just got a new machine with 80 B of space and suddenly within a few weeks
find myself down to 3 GB of space available. My last machine only used 15 GB
of space after three years. So I assume something strange is occurring and
want to see where the space is being used. Is there any way to get a report
showing folder sizes to see where the space is being used

Sudden and unexplained growth in disk usage is *very* often
    attributable to malware infestation.

Virus scans check for only viruses, trojans, worms, etc. Non-viral
malware (spyware, adware) is perhaps even more common these days) and
you anti-virus program doesn't protect against it.

The best way to get a malware installed is to name it as an OS, sell it, and
let people install it by themselves.

Im curious to see if it something from vista itself... lol like shadow copy
for example.. (although it should confine itself to a percentage of the
disk.. hehe this is vista we are talking about).

I'm running a virus scan to check that but is there a simple way to see where
the disk space is being used.

    Hi,
I'm sure there are many other similar programs, but I've been completely
    satisfied with TreeSize Free
    It's uncomplicated and quick

    Hope this helps,
    Don

    Hi Michael,

Sounds like System Restore run amok. Try turning it off and see what you
get back (just for testing purposes). There have been reports here of 3
gig per day used, excessive I think, especially when SR usually fails
you when you need it most.

Re: How to determine folder size

    Hi,

You can just select the folder and the size should show up in a tooltip. If it
doesn't, click Organize, choose Folder and Search Options, click the View tab, select "Display file size information in folder tips" and click OK.

How to view folder size is given in this thread - How to see folder size in Windows Explorer
