    How to disable Narrator?

    Hi,

I was playing around with Ease of Access Center on the logon screen and
enabled Narrator. Now, everytimes I log on into my account, Narrator will be
started. This only happen to my account only. All other accounts are not
afffected. I tried in vain to disable it but so far to no success.

    Any idea?

    Thanks in advance.

One way is to click the Start button and type msconfig and hit enter. go to
the startup tab and you should see an entry for narrator. uncheck the
checkbox and hit ok. restart and when you do, a notice will pop up saying
you are using a troubleshooting tool. click "dont show me this again" and it
wont pop up anymore. Narrator should no longer start when you log in.

That's the problem. It's not there. That's why I posted the question here.
No reference to Narrator at all.

Open Contral Panel/Ease of Access Center and select "Use the computer
without a display" remove the check mark from "Turn On Narrator."

I've been having this same problem, so please tell me how I can go to:

    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Accessibility

thanks very much "nicholas poh" it worked nicely, after a couple of weeks of
the narrator i was going ga!a! peace at last! much apreciated...x

I have been trying to get rid of narrator for 15 months on my Vista laptop. Finally laptop has died and low and behold a new laptop.

Oh good at long last I can get rid of narrator.

    Ahhhhh.....

Foolish woman that I am I used Windows Easy Transfer (rename it windows impossibly bad transfer but was a good idea) and guess what, I transferred the Narrator problem too.

none of the suggestions in this post have worked for me but I do not want another 15 months of abuse so I have restored from scratch to get rid of it.

Microsoft have been unhelpful and accused me of low IQ but I do believe this is a software issue. Don't use easy transfer if you want to leave your old system problems behind.

    Thank you for your suggestion

But on behalf of all frustrated 'get rid of Narrator campaigners'
    This does not work!!!!!!!

    At all

Under any or all user accounts

That narrator is back next time you log on

    Thank you for your reply.

But this does not work, next time I boot up its back!

    This does not work either!

    Hi Guys,

I had this problem also and it took me a while to work it out. The narrator wasn't in the msconfig menu or the startup folder.. very frustrating.

Go to Control Panel -> Ease of Access -> Ease of Access Center -> Explore all Settings -> Use the computer without a display. Uncheck the checkbox by Turn on Narrator and click Save.

Don't forget to thank me :P

    Cheers,
    klue182

Hmm interesting... it worked on 3 of my friends who had the problem.

The next time you boot up look for an icon at the bottom left of the
Windows logon display - click that and you should see options and just
    uncheck the narrator.
