Vista crashes (blue screen) after a few minutes while playing any

Sponsored Links
I had XP SP2 and all my games worked fine, without any crashes. After I got
Vista, any 3d game I have will crash in 5-15 minutes of playing, every time.
I wrote down the "technical information" on the blue screen, it read: "Stop
0x00000124 (0x00000000, 0x8463F9A8, 0xB2000000, 0x00070F0F)". Also, when I
restart the computer, the "error information" that comes up is the following:

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.256.1
Locale ID: 1033

Additional information about the problem:
BCCode: 124
BCP1: 00000000
BCP2: 8463F9A8
BCP3: B2000000
BCP4: 00070F0F
OS Version: 6_0_6000
Service Pack: 0_0
Product: 256_1

Files that help describe the problem:
C:\Windows\Minidump\Mini042307-01.dmp
C:\Windows\Temp\WER-24375-0.sysdata.xml
C:\Windows\Temp\WER759D.tmp.version.txt

My specs are as follows:
AMD 4200 X2 dual core
Radeon x1900xt
3 Gb RAM
7600 maxtor drive

If anyone has any information on how to fix this I would be very grateful,
thanks.

RE: Vista crashes (blue screen) after a few minutes while playing any

There are a couple things you can try. First thing to check is drivers. Stock
Vista drivers are useful for 2D and basic operation only. Check for updated
drivers from nvidia and your motherboard manufacturer. Also, you can try
downloading the latest Directx release. Stock Vista Directx doesn't have the
more recent 9.0c components. If none of this works, try dropping to 2Gb RAM.
If your board has 3 or 4 slots, use only slots 1 and 2. I've had similar
problems, and have isolated the fault to either the chipset or AMD's
integrated memory controller.

RE: Vista crashes (blue screen) after a few minutes while playing any

Don't think this is just an AMD problem... I am tearing my hair out trying to
get my system to run games again without hard BSOD crashes. I get similar
error messages that no one seems to be able to figure out........
My system info is:

Core 2 Duo 6600 (No OC)
Intel BOXD975XBXLKR MOBO
Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400 Xtreme Performance
ATI X1900 XTX 512MB PCIE Video
Creative X-Fi Platinum Sound
WD 200Gb SATA II HD
ASUS DVD +-RW
Sony DVD-ROM

I NEVER had a BSOD crash on this same system with XP................

So, I too would like to hear from anyone with a suggestion/solution to this
problem.

Thanks,

Re: Vista crashes (blue screen) after a few minutes while playing any

It's not an AMD problem. maybe a motherboard\chipset problem.

I play most all my usual games fine. Like you I can't remember the last time
I got a BSOD under XP. But under Vista, I was getting one fairly often.
Though most of my crashes where with Supreme Commander and 2 patches from
them fixed the problem, so I don't know that it was ever a Vista problem
directly (though it shouldn't have been BSODing)

The ATI 7.2 and 7.4 drivers seem to be the most stable. The 7.3 drivers
witht eh hotfix actually seemed pretty good. I haven't had a BSOD in over a
month. I just finsihed Command and Conquer 3, which I played exclusivley
under Vista 64

Did you do a format re-install or an upgrade from XP ?

Re: Vista crashes (blue screen) after a few minutes while playing

I have the exact same problem with my brand new vista ultimate 64 bit
computer...

Problem details:
Problem signature
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.256.1
Locale ID: 1033

Extra information about the problem
BCCode: 124
BCP1: 0000000000000000
BCP2: FFFFFA80025F3358
BCP3: 00000000B2000000
BCP4: 0000000000000175
OS Version: 6_0_6000
Service Pack: 0_0
Product: 256_1

Computer specs:
Intel core two duo 6700 at 2.66ghz
nvidia 8800gtx
2gb patriot ram
nforce 680i mobo
sound blaster x-fi extreme gamer sound card

My problem is exactly the same as everyone else's. No more than 10 minutes
of any game or media will play without a blue screen crash.

What I have done so far:
Updated all drivers (sound card, graphics card, etc...)
Tried disabling caching
tried disabling virtualization
tried using onboard sound with updated drivers
rolled back drivers

Does anyone have any idea what I can do to solve this problem? I've
exhausted my options to my knowledge.

I fixed my problem. I updated my mobo bios. Go to your mobo's website and
update the bios.

Restart

Here is info from latest restart. It doesn't happen only when I'm playing a game. Once it happened when I was running Media Player, once when I had just started up and once when I was in the Device Manager looking for info on my sound card

Re: Vista crashes (blue screen) after a few minutes while playing any

Hi guys. Just done some digging. It sounds like it may be a conflict
between the sound card drivers and the gfx drivers. To check this
disable your sound card in device manager then try the game. There have
been a few reports of users who have upgraded from xp to vista having
this problem. Havn`t found a solution though.
