Re: instAllshield update service update manager vista error requires permission

Any program running at startup that requests admin privileges will be
blocked each time at startup until you give permission for it. There are
some options. First is to question why it has to run each time at startup.
Seems like a waste of resources. I update programs periodically and don't
let them do it automatically except for the AV program. So one option is to
remove it from running at startup. Another option is to check with the
program author for a version that doesn't need admin privileges. There's no
reason why an autoupdater should need admin privileges.

Here is another option, run it as a scheduled task.

It's not that simple...I have this popup too, on a new system nuked to bare
hard drive and then installed apps. It's not in any Startup group, and the
various programs I've tried that show me the startup programs don't have it
listed. I'd be happy to turn it off, if I could find it. Or uninstall the
software that put it there in the first place...

RE: instAllshield update service update manager vista error requires p

Not that it helps any, since I'm getting a similar error message from Windows
Defender every time I restart, but... the InstallShield Update service seems
to be attached to Corel, Ulead, and Intervideo products (all Corel companies
now) I have installed on my system. I know it used to check for product
updates, but over the last few years it seemed to be coming up with more
cross-promotional ads for products and upgrades, than acutal updates to the
    software it was installed with.

I HATE this software, but created holy hell when I tried to uninstall it.
Beware. The information on InstallShield's site was NOT current. When I
tried to modify the instructions given for XP to work on my new Vista system,
I ended up being unable to install any new programs... which resulted in a
complete reinstall of Vista from the ground up.

If anyone comes across credible information on disabling/removing
InstallShield Update Service (aka ISUSPM.exe) in Windows Vista, please let me
    know.

    Found fix.

Go to "Start | Run", then type regedit. The Edit | Find | "issch.exe". If you repeat the find through the registry, then you will eventually see 2 different "Start up" locations which have the 3 ISU... applications that are trying to run every time you restart Windows Vista. Delete these entries, there should be 6 in all, 2 sets of 3. Hope this helps.

Error: Object doesn't support this property or method
    Code: 0

Every time when I start my computer my windows defender is blocking following programmes to run automatically with the starting of windows.
    (1) InstalShield Update Service Scheduler
    (2) Install shield Update Service Update Manager
    (3) Install shield Update Service Update Manager

When I have inquired about the reason and click on the icon of Install shield Update Manager in my Start Menu program, I find an error message which is mentioned above. As per Windows Vista help I had made short cuts of above mentioned three Install Shield programs in Start up menu to start the programs automatically every time when I start my computer. But this did not work. The Programs are still blocked by windows defender every time when I start my computer.
I shall be greatful to you if you help me to sort out this problem. I am waiting for your reply.

As greggw124 states, using regedit seems to be the best bet. There's a handy guide
The msconfig option doesn't seem to be good enough - ISUSPM seems to reinstate itself even if you disable it from msconfig.

I found that editing HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run in regedit was sufficient, I did not find (or need) the 6 locations greggw124 refers to, but it appears that some of you have up to three installs of ISUSPM; I have only one. Best of luck!

i want to re install update manager
