It doesn't work on many computers. Personally I think there are much better security solutions than McAfee but this is just my opinion. I personally must agree with Kerry on those thoughts about MacAfee...As security goes you could do much better but if you really desire a resource hog than MacAfee is the right product for you....Tell you what if you do not believe this try uninstalling MacAfee and download Grisoft's AVG free (for antivirus) and use the built in Vista firewall for a week and see how much quicker your system is....I used to be a diehard Norton fan (Symantec) until I found out just how much resources it used...Wife had MacAfee on hers and the two machines were terrible...Now they both are smokin fast.....Just my 3 cents "George Frank" <gfrank26@comcast.net> wrote in message news:%23osIXBRhHHA.5008@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... >I see many posts about McAFee not working well with Vista, and to delete >it. Hi, PC newbie here and I do not like my McAfee free trail. I have Windows XP Professional/Office 2003...whatever that means. I want to get rid of McAfee and use something else. Now I discover this Microsoft Defender? What I am hearing is I need the Defender and an Anti-Virus (like McAfee?). Can someone explain this to me and help me find a good AV and I am hearing that the download for the Defender is troublesome???? The Defender does what? And AV is different than Spyware and Spamkiller? I'm soooooooo lost.... Thx! | RE: Why uninstall McAFee
I just got a new computer from Dell 2-3 months ago. Everything was fine until just last week...now I am having all the "message cannot be displayed" problems and I've been reading all the posts about WM incompatibility with McAfee. It is incredibly frustrating - I hope the same doesn't happen to dell. I am so angry that Dell would not flag this knowing that I was purchasing Vista!
