Recording audio

Is there a way to record audio that is already going thru the sound card -
like the radio output of iTunes for instance? I've tried but get zero level
audio :-(

Thanks
Paul

Re: Recording audio

In the recording tab of your sound properties window, right-click and
check "show disabled devices" (or "show hidden devices"). "Stereo mix"
or "what you hear" should now be available.

Re: Recording audio

Thanks Mark.

After messing around, I found out that Adobe Audition is the culprit.

I can record if I use another programme (ACA Audio Recorder is excellent),
but for some reason Audition 2.0 will not recognise any live audio stream,
so for the moment I have to record audio via ACA , save it then reopen it in
Audition to edit.

Unless anyone else knows how to make Audition work better in Vista,
considering Adobe state its not supported under Vista...?

Re: Recording audio

I believe that the current Sigma Tel audio driver does not have a "Stereo Mix"
option yet. (Stereo Mix=Realtek, What-U-Hear=Creative) You might get something
in the next release of Sigma Tel drivers.

Re: Recording audio

I don't know if mine is the same problem, but when I try to record something
coming through the sound card on my powerspec v101, the only choice for
recording is through the line in jack. I can't record any audio. Is this
something with Vista, Or the RealTek built in sound card?

Re: Recording audio

Realtek AC'97 or Realtek HD Audio?

If Realtek HD Audio, right click on the Speaker icon in the Notification Area of
the Taskbar and Select Recording Devices. In the Recording window, right click
on an empty area of the window and check both "Show Disconnected Devices" and
"Show Disabled Devices". Stereo Mix should appear.

If it does not, you should update the Realtek HD audio drivers from here:

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...Audio%20Codecs

NOTE: you may have to run the driver install twice: once to remove the older
drivers, and again to actually install the newer driver.

Re: Recording audio

I have vista . I have solved this problem . Here is what you do . If full steps

Click start ..... click control panel.....click audio
set this to classic view. Not sure if this matters but it's what I did

Click recording tab
Right click in white space. Click " Show disabled"

Here is what you should see
Micraphone / line in
Micraphone Array
Playback Capture

Click Playback Capture....make this your default
Click Micraphone Array....disable

This is what you should now see:
Micraphone / line in ......currently unavailabe
Micraphone Array .........Disabled
Playback Capture..........working

Hope this helps....You should now be able to record stereo without using line in's

No. I dont see anything at all. Nothing more than the original Mic and Line In. My soundcard is SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC. Guess the card is the problem. Can someone help me please ? I would be most grateful.
