Re: Nokia PC Suite

Thanks -- they told me they were working on one.

I wonder if it will see my Nokia 3120? Couldn't get it to in XP.

Anyone else using a third party DKU-5 cable successfully -- which is
Nokia's boilerplate excuse.

Is the CA cable any better?

Using a CA-53 courtesy of eBay (£5) with my 6230i, works perfectly...

Re: Nokia PC Suite

Thanks -- I wonder if it really is my DKU-5 then?

Is your cable marked Nokia or is it a third party? I bought mine from a
funnily named outfit up in NY I think it was -- I'd look it up but it's
in my XP Favorites and I'm in VISTA at the moment.

Still no way to prevent the "Send files to another computer" icon from
appearing on the desktop every time the phone connects, though...

Maybe they mean it when their FAQs say you must use one of their
cables!

I suspect that this is for the USB to Serial driver needed but I
tracked down one for the actual chip in my cable and even then I could
not get the PC Suite to recognize that the phone was there.

Yes but is it from Nokia or a third party -- with USB to Serial
adapters I have reason to believe that they may be modified to work
with a particular device.

In my case VISTA recognized my USB to serial adapter in Device Manager
and says it is OK -- I used a driver from Prolific who supply the chip
in my non-Nokia cable.

I also installed the latest PCSuite stated on the Nokia website to be
OK for VISTA.

The end result is that PC Suite works fine in VISTA but cannot see the
Nokia Phone -- says No phone connected.

I may order a Nodia CA42 cable which replaces the DKU5 and see if that
works.
