Have you checked the manufacturer for updates or contact them about Vista
support? You could try running the game iin Compatibility mode to see if it
    will work better.
Right click the programs executable > click Properties > "Compatibility" tab
    > under "Compatibility Mode" check the Run this application in compatibility
mode for: box > click in the list box and choose a suitable version of
    Windows.

ok i have not figured out this computer yet. so could u tell me how u get to
programs executable .... i feel retarted having to ask but hey thats how we
    learn i guess

Is it from Blue Mountain ?

    What's the game called ?

    What's the game's exe file called ?

I did the work-around for the launcher and went directly to the program exe and was able to get it to work. I'm using XP here, but I have a Vista laptop at home that's having a different trouble, it keeps giving me directX version issues. Anybody heard of that one before?
Excuse me for asking, but what games use the Oberon Media launcher?

    Re: Oberon Media Game launcher

If it's from Blue Mountain, the Oberon Media game shortcut actually points to a launcher program.
In trial mode this tells you how much time you have left before buying a registration key.
This launcher program fails in Vista, so try running the game's program directly.
Go to the folder of the game and try double-clicking on the game's exe file.
(You may have to right-click and 'Run as administrator'.)

I just want to thank you for asking this question, I needed it answered as well. I followed Andre De Costa's instructions...I right clicked the Mahjong Deluxe shortcut on my desktop, followed the suggested proceedures clicking on Administrator and checked the Windows XP compatibility mode box and, voila, success! But I didn't have the exact same problem you had. I loaded the Mahjong game up on my new computer, entered the registration key and when asked to dowload the new Mahjong patch (wouldn't let me play Mahjong until I did so), it started the dowload, but then when the patch download finished, the game went Kaput! It just shut completely down.
These instructions took care of the problem! I can't live without my Pogo, I'm an addict! lol So thank you again and I love this site! I'm sure I'll need help in the future as I'm not all that familiar with this Vista operating system yet.

I'm having the same problem (started with operation mania and now affects the launcher for all my pogo to go games) Oberon media support is a joke. All they do is offer me another free game but does no good if they won't run.. tried to email back and let them know but got NO responce, sent another email and still nothing!

Please if anyone has any ideas on how to fix this.. yes did try to run as administrator in win xp (service pack2) mode but still no luck. out the money and they game at this point :( too bad kids really did like it and it worked up until I tried to get support for the frog mini game that kept crashing.

A SOLUTION to the Error message Game Launcher has stopped working for Windows Vista.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi. I have been having the same problems with my Windows Vista and the Oberon Media error message "Game Launcher has stopped working." I have been emailing these people for over a month now and the lady I have been emailing just sent me a possible fix. I went and did it step by step on my computer and It has fixed my problem. Hope it fixes your too.

    The steps are as follows:::::

    1. Right click on your My Computer Icon. Go to Properties

    2. Click on the Advanced System Settings ( mine is listed on the left hand side) A new window will open click on the Advanced tab.

    3. Where is says Performance click on the settings box . A new window will open.

    4. Click on Data Execution Prevention, now where is says " Turn on DEP for essential windows programs and services only. CLICK on that little circle beside that. At the bottom of the box click Apply then click OK. Now restart your computer and try relaunching the game and it should work. MINE DID and IM so HAPPY

GOOD LUCK hope it works fo you like it did me. If it doesnt work please feel free to email me @ Kentuckylady129@yahoo.com and I will forward you the email address for the lady I spoke with that helped me fix my problem.

    Re: Oberon Media Game launcher

not sure if this is the right thread to post in, but i recently downloaded "way to go bowling" and when i run it, after the initial screen where you click the "play game" button, my screen goes black, but i hear all the sounds of the game starting up. i've tried several different things, including downloaded updated drivers from dell as well as microsoft, all to no avail.

is anyone familiar with this problem and how it may be corrected? any help would be greatly appreciated. the game was only $20.00, granted, but i'd rather not take a $20 bill and just throw it away if i don't have too.

You are a godsend, I bow to your greatness! Thanks, I followed your steps and was back to playing my Shockwave games once again!

Has it occurred to you yet that the possible reason you're not getting
any replies is because the people you hope will reply have LONG since
    stopped monitoring this thread???

Would it be possible for you to tell me which Shockwave games were broken and where I can download them? I would like to take a look at them and see if there is anything I can do to *fix* the problem.

    Re: Oberon Media Game launcher

Ok My Oberon Games Are Giving Me This Game Launcher Error Too
I Read Another Answer To This Question About These Oberon Games Here In Vista Giving Game Launcher Error & It Says The Wrong Thing !!!!!
Changing The Compatibly "mode" Setting Is Not The Thing To Do !!!!!
Down At Bottom Of This Same Window Where It Says "privilege Level"
Check The Box There !!! "run This Program As An Administrator" / Then Click Apply Close
So, If You Do Not Have An Icon For Your Game On Desktop
    Click Start / All Programs
    Find The Oberon Folder
    Find Your Game Folder
    While Holding Ctrl Key
Click On Game Icon & Drag To Desktop
(doing It This Way Will Still Leave You An Icon In This All Programs Folder)
Now, Right Click The Icon / Click Properties / Click On Compatibility Tab / Check The Box "run This Program As An Administrator" / Click Apply, Close.
I Also Have A File Renamer Utility Program
And When I Install It (in Vista) And Enter My Unlock Code The Thing Works Until I Close It / Then When I Reuse It It Is Back To The Unregestered Version / And The Fix For That Program Is The Same As The Fix Here I Have Given For The Oberon Games.
