    VISTA x64 Realtek Spdif problem

First of all, Hi and nice to be seeing you reading this thread.

    Here is my problem:
    I have a nforce4 motherboard with a Realtek ALC850 Codec with Spdif in/out.
I just have bought a logitech digital soundsystem and I want to use the spdif.
But if i connect it it gives sound for like 30 secs and then it dissapears, if I wait a while the sound will come back and then it disappears again.
Im running on Vista Home Premium x64.

But somehow vista does reconize the optional spdif port on my Creative Live! 24bit, and that while I do not have that option package.

Trying the latest drivers and all isnt realy working.. it just gives the same problems...

Did anybody get the "Digital Audio Interface" option next to your Speakers at the "Sound" tab of the control center? just like below here as with my creative? (its in dutch sorry for that but im dutch so my windows is aswel :P)

    or:
Did anyone get spdif to work flawless in vista?

One thing that always seems to work for me, open Windows Media Player,
    Tools Menu
    - Options
    -- Device
    --- Speakers
    ---- Properties
Then click the "Use 24-bit for audio CDs"
Seems to work for me when I've experienced the same issues

Nope, that doesn't really solve the problem.

and the funny thing is that when installing the Nvidia Nforce4 audio (Vista)Beta2 drivers, spdif works with 2 channels. But windows uses his automatic updates to put there own drivers on it.. and then it doesn't work anymore.

So i guess the only options are to buy a new card that does already work or to wait for the Nvidia Nforce4 drivers.

So if anybody has solved this problem in any way don't feel hold back by me waiting for Nvidia, i would still like to know.

    Tnx

I had heard that SPDIF was not going to work in Vista because it allows you
to make digital copies of your digital audio. Don't know if that is correct
    or not.
