Thread: Blank page 'won't go away'

Re: Blank page 'won't go away'

Just wanted to add my two cents. I too had this darn blank page popping
up everytime I turned on my computer. Saw this thread and realized I too
had Magnetic installed. Uninstalled it yesterday and joy of joys, no
more blank page. A friend of mine just got a new computer with Vista
Home Premium and she got hit with it also and we were thinking it might
have been a glitch in the program. After doing more research and finding
this site I decided to get rid of Magnetic and that did the trick for
me. I hope all of you uninstall it if you have it on your computers and
see if it doesn't do the trick for you. Thank you for helping me. Happy
    computing.

I know this is a late post, since it's 2008 now, but I've been having
the same problem with the blank page in Vista. After much research, I
finally came across this forum, thank God. I, too, have IncrediMail,
and so I just uninstalled it in hopes that that pesky page won't come up
again. Thanks so very much for the suggestion. I hope it works.

Our computer does exactly the same thing!!! When we go to the task manager to get rid of it it shows up titled as BLANK PAGE. But it keeps just popping up over and over just out of the blue, and is very annoying. How can we make it go away and STAY away???

I had this same problem each time i turned on my pc this annoying blank page came up & i had to right click & close it. It came up every day but i took Alan's advice on here which was to go to the system configuration and untick the box for MAGENTA which came with my incredimail. i restarted my pc and guess what? No more blank page!!! So anyone still with this prob, do the same & u'll be blank page free :)

I would suspect that everyone who posted in that thread has long-since
solved their problem. Check the dates of the posts to confirm for
    yourself.

Just for the heck of it, next time do the check BEFORE you reply.

*Only* four months ago? Four months is a *very* long time for a thread
to stay alive. As a general rule, you should never reply to anything
anywhere near that old, since it will have died long ago.

If you have a problem and want to make a post about it, please ignore
old threads. Just start a new thread and state your problem.

Also my very strong recommendation is that you do *not* post via
vBulletin USENET gateway. That's one of those disreputable web-based
services that leech messages from newsgroups and send the messages you
post to us here in the newsgroup. You've ended up in the Microsoft
newsgroup microsoft.public.windows.vista.general on the news server
    msnews.microsoft.com.

Using any web-based access to the newsgroups, even Microsoft's, is the
slowest, clunkiest, most error-prone method there is. Do yourself a
favor and switch to a newsreader, such as Outlook Express, which comes
with Windows XP, or Windows Mail, which comes with Vista.

Re: Blank page 'won't go away'

You may have expected privacy when you joined the TechArena forum (with a
User name and password and everything). But, as Ken said, TechArena
forwarded your "private" message to the Microsoft public news server, which
posted it here in the Microsoft public newsgroup (also known as Microsoft
Communities) for all the world to read. But TechArena did not bother to
send along the prior messages in that thread, so we haven't the slightest
clue as to what you meant when you started your post with, "I had this same
    problem..."

TechArena and similar forums do a valuable service - but they also violate
the privacy of their members without disclosing that they are forwarding
messages outside their forum. They also don't always inform their members
that the answers posted in the forum actually came from these Microsoft
    public newsgroups or other sources.

To "cut out the middleman" and post your question directly to this newsgroup
(It's free and does not require a login), just click here:
    news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof....vista.general

That one click should bring you right back here, but in the newsreader
format, using your default newsreader (probably Outlook Express or Windows
Mail). After reading a few messages for familiarization, you can customize
OE/WM in several ways to suit yourself.

Try it. I think you'll like it. ;<)

RE: Blank page 'won't go away'

I have the same problem -why can't windows just tell me the answer??
I hope you got your problem solved. I don't understand why I have to find a
discussion group to further delay what should be a simple reply from
    microsoft!

Regarding your problem, could you please provide more information about
the blank page that pops up? Is it an internet explorer blank page?
What is the program or process in task manager say when you close it
from there? More info would help us help you with this.

Has anyone found out how to get rid of the blank page appearing? At
first I could hit Task Manager and delete the -blank page- but after I
updated Windows that doesn't work anymore. HELP!!!!

is there a process running associated with it which you can terminate from
    Task Manager, rather than taskbar?
When terminating select "end process tree", rather than a single process
    file listed.

I have exact the same problem with "Blank Page" showing up after using
google. Please, is there anyone outhere who resolved this issue?

Thank you for your tip it got rid finally of the blank page by uninstalling Majestic, but it still will only let me have a solid color for a desktop background. I just want to use one of windows backgrounds.
Do you have any clues about this?

And thanks again thanks for getting rid of that blank page!!!!
    I have Windows Vista.

I finally got rid of the blank page. Now I can only get a solid color desktop background. Any clues?

    Right-click Desktop
    Select Personalize
    Select Desktop Background
Click on text right of "Location" to bring up a list or Browse... button

You should be able to take it from there.

Re: Blank page 'won't go away'

I am a computer scientist and checked a PC with Vista yesterday with the very same problem (home edition, french, incredimail installed). When the page is blank, you can right-click on it, go to properties and see that it is a mostly empty html file that belongs to Magentic. You can ALT-SPACE and close the window or WINDOWS+D to get the desktop. Then uninstall Magentic or tell it to avoid starting when windows starts and kill the process or it will generate another HTML file and display it on your screen.
Don't forget to clean all the messy HTML files generated. I don't know why this program has that behavior.

    The file was at
    Code:
    <User>\AppData\Local\Temp\Magentic\Mag3948.htm
