I want to boot to the desktop with user: login logging in (no password) At the moment it gets stuck at the user screen forcing you to chose which user to login is it not possible to force one of them to login? |

| Re: Getting a user to auto login? Try this... "To force windows to login you need to drill down to this registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon In that key there are four values that are important: AutoAdminLogon - A string value. Yes a string value. That is set to 0 or 1. If the value is 1, then the next time windows boots it will attempt to login with the credentials provided in the values shown below. DefaultUserName - Username used to automatically login with. DefaultPassword - Password used to automatically login with. Careful here. This is left in the registry unencrypted and easily read by anyone with an administrator account" -- MikeEgan Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |

Forget these vista computer geek wanabies and listen to a pro how its done: I made screenshots to help you.... go to run (if you dont have the run command on the start menu, right click on the start menu select properties and you will see a customize button, Press that. In the list there is a RUN put a checkmark on that) see screenshot>> http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/970/screenie2xe2.jpg then type> control userpasswords2 See screenshot> http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/4...reenie3qb4.jpg press enter then uncheck the option that says USERS MUST ENTER A USER.. bla bla see screenshoy> http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/82/screenie4kh8.jpg The type the EXACT name of the user you want to autologon and then enter a password if you have it, if you dont leave it blank see screenshot http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/6...reenie5vb5.jpg Tell me if this helps "Mike" <me@privacy.net> wrote in message news:12vgtg03qqs9l75@corp.supernews.com... >I want to boot to the desktop with user: login logging in (no password) > > At the moment it gets stuck at the user screen forcing you to chose which > user to login is it not possible to force one of them to login? > |

| Re: Getting a user to auto login? Good info Mike and Krik Jim, There is an easier solution. There is a Utility called IntelliAdmin. It does the job you want. It allows you to quickly Enable or Diable Auto Login in Vista. [image: http://www.intelliadmin.com/images/A...d%20Vista.gif] regards Steve -- Steve Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |
