| Vista Control Panel and removing programs
Hello, I just upgraded to Vista Home Premium and can't access the Control Panel. Whenever I try, I get a message that Windows Explorer has crashed. Also, Vista doesn't like Grisoft's AVG. So I tried to reinstall and uninstall it, but it won't do either. I have obtained the latest drivers and updates for my hardware. Any fix out for this problem yet? Thx. |

I can't help you with the control panel problem, but I can report that I have AVG running on my Vista machine without any problems. It's the latest AVG 7.5. If you can't install or uninstall it, and you have an additional interface problem, I'm thinking the AVG problem is possibly a symptom of the bigger problem. Just a guess. Are there other consistent problems with Windows Explorer crashing? |

Thanks for the reply. This is so far the only time Windows Explorer crashes. Have you tried different routes to the Control Panel, such as through "Computer" ? Joe Wenham wrote: > Thanks for the reply. Yes, I tried to get to the Control Panel through 'Computer' and the same thing happens. And I still can't figure out why I can't remove or install AVG. "Daze N. I'm running AVG 7.5 Free, myself. If I start up the installation program for it, click Next and Accept, I am given the options of either Repairing or Uninstalling the AVG. Did you try this? Yes, I too was using 7.5 with XP, the icon to install it is still on my desktop at present. When I try to install it, or repair my installation, i click to proceed, it instantly goes to a screen telling me that it has been installed. But in reality, it did nothing. I still can't access anything that is in the Control Panel. When I right click on the desktop and click 'personalize', there are options to select such as 'mouse pointers' and 'sounds'. Clicking these also crashes Windows Explorer. "Daze N. Knights" wrote: > I'm running AVG 7.5 Free, myself.
