| Re: Windows Error during Complete PC Backup
It is quite likely that you, someone, some software or what know I have deleted something you shouldn't in your windows backup folder. I cleaned mine out because I needed the space for a new backup, only to have the complete pc backup fail on me. Couldn't start service. Luckily my backup drive was a secondary harddrive so I could remove it, boot and the complete backup service worked. If you use vssadmin in the command line you should be able to see where the system is trying to save your backup by typing vssadmin list shadowstorage. Perhaps someon more knowlegable in the ways of vssadmin or similar tools can tell us how to recreate a working storage without removing drives from the system. |

| Re: Windows Error during Complete PC Backup
This sounds like what happened to me. Due to space issues, I deleted my Windows backup folder from a local hard drive. When I subsequently attempted to Back up computer (intending to designate a new destination), I get: The specified service does not exist as an installed service. (0x80070424) munk: based on your experience, perhaps I'll temporarily unmount the former backup drive and try again. |

| Re: Windows Error during Complete PC Backup
Okay, here's my problem when I go to back up my files it says I don't have enough room to do so, and to delete files that maybe taking up space. So when I click on the bubble it tells me to delete files from my EMPTY recyling bin.. I have backed up files onto disks already, but it's still telling me I don't have enough room to back files up. this stupid bubble keeps coming up and I don't know how to get rid of it. I already did the Start Run Redgit (stuff) but the bubble keeps coming up. Any help would be great:D |

So where are you trying to back up files TO? Have you tried using Windows Explorer to look at that location and to verify that you do indeed have sufficient space? |

I already backed up my files onto disks, this is the bubble that comes up you are running out of disk space on HP_RECOVERY (D):. to free space on this drive my deleting old or unnecessary file click here When I click on the bubble it brings up the disk clean and ask if i want to get rid of my files or other users so i get rid of everything and it just brings up recycle bin which has 0bytes in it. |

This is the Recovery Partition that allows you to restore your computer to factory-gate settings. You shouldn't be putting anything on that partition AT ALL. |

| Re: Windows Error during Complete PC Backup YAH !! The error was persistent and nothing seemed to be wrong. SFC reported no errors and chkdsk same I did the Registry tweak and found 5 (FIVE) user profiles in addition to the ones I created. Deleted them and Backup is now running with no problems This is a Dell 1720 running Vista Home premium. Coincidentally (?????) Dell support had used their remote access to repair this machine online 5 times....I wonder said Alice ?? Peter -- peterwil0 |
