Vista Business + MSI Error 1500

For the past several days, I have been encountering "Error 1500: Another
installation in progress" from every single Microsoft Installer setup file.

This happens when installing Acrobat Reader (any version), Windows 2003 SP1
Admin Pack, Visual Studio 2005 extensions, or any number of other MSI-based
installation files.

Any advice on this?

Thank you.

RE: Vista Business + MSI Error 1500

Has anyone been able to find a solution for this "Error 1500: Another
installation in progress". Can't install any progams including: Acrobat
Reader, Cisco Client, and windows tools... This error starts to display when
there is an problem during the installation process, almost installs after
will fail.

Any advise would be helpful...

No solutions yet? I'm still having this problem. Can't find anything on other
communities..

I too am getting this exact error. If someone has found the fix, they are
reluctant to post it. I even get the error while installing Java 6. Anyone
have an answer?

Soo... this just cripples vista and no one has any solutions??? Happening to
me too.

It's always best to post details about exactly what you are seeing and doing
when an error occurs. The message you are replying to is 7 months old and
even the original message did not give any real details.

Anyway, perform the following.

1.Click Start, type: regedit.exe Right clicck regedit in the results
and select the 'Run as administrator' option.

2. Navigate to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Installer\InProgress

3. Right click the 'InProgress' key and select Delete.

4. Close regedit and all programs and reboot the computer.

Try installing the program again. Post back with the results.

Re: Vista Business + MSI Error 1500

I am having the same issue. I tryed looking up that key in my registry
but did not find it. I have tried looking at the forums of all the
programs that I cannot get running (acrobat, java, and vistabootpro) and
none of these forums have an explanation to the problem. it seems no msi
files will load on my computer. I even tried installing windows
installer 4.5 beta and that did not fix the problem. I tried disabling
the uac (user account control) that didn't help, I also tried disabling
the antivirus and firewall software i run.

Currently I'm running Win7, but I'm also having the same issue. When I
clicked on the inprogress folder in regedit, a dialog box appeared
saying "Cannot edit: Error reading the values's contents."

Any help would be appriciated.
