Windows Image Acquisition Service Error

Hi, i recently installed Windows Vista on one of my XP running system. Everything was working fine but suddenly i started getting an error message saying:

"Windows Image Acquisition Service Error"

While searching web i dint understood what is it exactly but found a guy saying disabling some service. Can anyone please provide me more on this ? Thank you.

That guy was telling you to stop "Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)" service. You can do this from Services Applet. Here is how you can do it:

Click Start Button, type services in the search field. Right Click the resulting Services under Programs and select "Run As Administrator." It will open the services window where you need to scroll down and select Windows Image Acquisition (WIA). Double click the same and select Stop. Also set the Start Up Type to Disabled.

Thats it.

Brilliant advice. I actually needed the opposite - System Mechanic or Registry Mechanic has disabled WIA by switching off Shell Hardware Detection under Services. This menat that HP Scan would not start under Vista, rendering my CM1415fnw useless. This advice was nvaluable in figuring out what was wrong (unlike the HP forum). Many thanks.
