I'm not going to turn this into a debate over who knows more etc... I've been into Gaming sice Pong. My First PC was a Vic 20. PS3 and XBox 360 aren't bad Gaming Consoles but aren't PC's either, I know the difference. With the advent of new technology comes transition Headaches, that's all I was saying. Don't bother replying with another snippy comment, I won't respond. Damn forum trolls! Go back to the shadows from onsted you came, vile idiot! I've run into a couple programs that have "Windows Vista" on the box, but are clearly not well tested, AvP I remember also had WinXP issues. Vista is better an older games than XP was. Internet wasn't as big back then, not every village idiot could post on newsgroups either. Ah, memories. my first system was an Atari 800, still have it in fact. I sold my ST though, still regret that to this day. |

| Re: anyone tried HALO with Vista yet?
Well, on my 3weeks-old Vista Home Premium, not many games works. CoD2 multiplayer worked slow but ok for about 5 days. Then suddenly it just stopped. Wouldn't even start. Just the message that there is a "problem...". As if I don't know that. Been trying to fix it for 2 weeks now, and still nothing. Well, I want to play something so I installed Rise of Legends. I thought because it's a Microsoft game, I'll stay out of trouble. But was I in for a surprise. First it wouldn't start. "There is a problem...". Unistall, clean startup and reinstall. Now the install of Rise of Nation will not start. Hasta la VISTA is giving me the creeps... I've tried to run as administrator and still nothing. Have to admit that Vista have not convinced me yet. Everyone I meet, talk "not-so-nice" about Vista. I have not met anyone face-to-face that can say nice things about Vista and games. No, if I can't get it fixed soon, I'll just admit my money is gone. Buying Vista was a mistake. Microsoft really have to do better than this. Release a ServicePack or something. We want our new computers to work. We'll pay a lot of money for RAM, graphic-cards, screens etc etc. And we pay for a brand new OS, that should take the experience to a "higher level". But we all sit here frustrated. We paid for a OS that gives us nothing but agony. Taking the machine back to the shop is a possibillity. But why should it be necessary? We have paid good money, and want some fun. That's all. I've always backed up Microsoft when my friends started with Linux. And I still use Internet Explorer when my friends have Mozilla. Microsft must really do something, because I want to play CoD2-multiplayer now......... Hi Halo 2 for VISTA, cant get past the opening credits With Halo1 combat evolved. When I reach the mission after the "silent Cartographer, my screen freezes up, then it goes to black, then back to the game..,… and the message appears: "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered". Then another messages appears: "Attempt to reset the display driver failed, windows will shut down so not cause any damage". Any ideas please, NVIDIA Geforce 8800Gts card latest driver, brand new computer. Desperately disappointed, the computer was rated best buy for games. I have Halo 2 running on my Vista Home Premium 64 bit machine and I also have an EVGA (Nvidia) Geforce 8800 GTS video card. I have not played the game much but I have not had any crashes. Make sure you have the latest driver from Nvidia installed and if that does not do it try their latest beta driver 163.44 availbale from Guru3D.com. Good luck! Yes, there is a patch, I saw it, just I don't remember where... Try to use google and search something like "Halo 2 vista on xp"; there is surely something... Such is available, though most likely not official supported. |

There is no such patch, at least not from Microsoft. If such a patch exists, it is made from someone else and not supported by Microsoft. -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] http://www3.telus.net/dandemar "Moose" <Moose@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:7739F892-4436-46B4-B8D5-FCE30CF734BC@microsoft.com... > hi in not sure where 2 put this but contacting microsoft is harder > than > finding a pin in a haystack if you dont know what to do so heres my > question: > does anybody have a patch for halo 2 for windows vista so i can play > it on > windows xp? |
