Uninstall limewire, if you can connect to the web then it indicates
that limewire isn't compatible with Vista. Have a great day.

Check ffirewall or router

Re: limewire

limewire is the filthiest, most scumware infested software on the planet.
WHY would you install this?!?

for an HONEST, scumware-free P2P program, go here:

Re: limewire

I agree. It just causes nothing but problems because of all the other stuff
that comes through with a download. My kids use it our downstairs computer
and it is always running so slow. Well, it is an older Dell P4 2.53? Mhz but
I have had to use utilities program many times to correct problems.

I plan to install Vista Home Premium after I update the graphic card (have
enough RAM). So, if Vista doesn't like Limewire, I'll be happy but my kids
won't!! :)

Re: limewire

If you use limewire or other P2P file sharing programs now you should be
more than unhappy. You should be terrified. I have cleaned plenty of key
loggers and password catchers from computers infected by the installation of
such programs. It isn't what comes with the download of the music - the
infections occur by simply installing the P2P software.

And many adware companies have made financial deals with companies like
Claria/Gator or have backed down from the threats of lawsuits and no longer
report those programs as spyware - including Gator's password collector.

That's wierd, I've never had 1 problem ever with Limewire. It's the best
music download sight I have ever tried.

Please see The Windows Vista Application Compatibility Update 929427. You
will see Limewire v 4.12 on the list. I'm pretty sure you need this update.

There are numerous Windows-based open source alternatives that work
better and aren't spywware/adware infested.

Shareaza
eMule
eMule Plus
ML Donkey....

It's not a "download sight[sic]"

And Shareaza, eMule, MLDonkey or KCEasy are MUCH better.

RE: limewire

After you install this update, a CD device or a DVD device may not work
correctly. If you select the device in Device Manager and then view the
properties for the device, you may receive the following error message:
The software for this device has been blocked from starting because it is
known to have problems with Windows. Contact the hardware vendor for a new
driver. (Code 48)
This problem occurs because a legacy application may install drivers that
are incompatible with Windows Vista.
For more information about how to work around this problem, click the
following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base

When running these P2P try opening the program as Run As Administrator.

Ok so I bought this new computer for college and it has Vista Home
Premium Basic x64 and I can't download Limewire. Everytime I try I get
to the same point and an error message pops up say "blah blah input
files can't be opened because of spilttet files." So for the life of me
I can't figure out how to circumvent this. PLEASE help me.

Why are you bitchin' about this here? Go find a Limewire forum and cry
there.

Re: limewire

So, you all "know it alls" don't know how to solve the OP's problem and
trying to ridicule him. I expect much respectable response, I would have
helped him but unfortunately I don't know the remedy.

Re: limewire

I posted here because I thought it might be vista issue....crazy thought
seeing as its been slammed as an extremely unreliable operating system.
So pardon me for posting here. And thanks for defending me, even though
I am a girl. :)

Re: limewire

I have a HP Pavilion dv7 laptop running windows home premiumx64 and am
running Limewire Pro 5.0 and have had no issues, got to the Limeware web
site and download the software from them and make sure you delete and other
limewire program you already tried to installs.

He's pissed off at Vista because he can't d/l his whack-off videos. His
problem is with Limewire, not Vista. I'm trying to determine if his name
relates to his age or IQ.

What does MICROSOFT have to do with a pirating program? Common sense, girl. Use it!

Oh I don't know....the fact that Vista has compatability issues and
that could cause Limewire not to download? And I don't much appreciate
your condescending attitude. I'm sorry that I'm not completely computer
literate. But you don't have to respond because someone actually helped
me as opposed to just being a douche about the whole thing.

But your IQ is hovers right around your shoe size. Just FYI.

Re: limewire

Stupid person you are! You need to learn to read and use 'common sense'
(your words, bozo). She said she was having a downloading problem. I'd
guess you don't know the answer either. I know I don't, but I know
stupidity when I see it!

Do you have a reading comprehension problem also? The OP said she was
having a 'downloading' problem from within Vista.
