Messenger Not Working In Vista

I installed the latest version of Messenger and upon loading it crashes,

Did you ever manage to sign in, or has it never worked?

Yes I have similar problem...new Dell Laptop, Windows Vista, Office 2007 etc
etc every time I try & sign in I get so far .....I log in see all contacts
and then Vista closes live messenger with message window stating "Windows
Live Messenger Has Stopped Working"

"Windows Live Messenger Has Stopped Working" is the same message I am getting
annoying now, have microsoft acknowledged the problem?

I have a new pc with vista on it. Messenger has installed, but we can't sign
in unless I right click on the program and "run as administrator". Any other
time, windows closes it with the Data Execution Prevention progam. When I go
into settings, it won't allow me to deactivate DEP for that
program........any suggestions???

Well, Apparently the problem is with the latest version of Messenger and not
older versions. If you download Live Messenger 8.0 it works find no DEP error
or any kind of error. You can download Live Messenger 8.0 from:

Although it is not the latest version but its better then not using one at
all. Hopefully Microsoft will find a solution soon.

the samething I have wrong Acer. Microsoft didn't care if you can't use
window's live messenger. Acer pass's the buck.I did evrything Microsoft said
to do and stall didn't work.SO WHO CARE MICROSOFT AND ACER DIDN'T CARE THAT
IS WHY WE GET A RUN AROUND

what could be the problem here and how can i fix this?

thank you sooooo much the acer patch worked. though I had to go here to find

that's the page where the link for the patch is for ACER computers. I DL'd
it and ran it and now MSN workes
without getting that crash report. btw I also deleted Adobe flash, and I'm
DL the newest version, so lets hope
it will still work with Adobe flash and Adobe player running .

Since you quoted *nothing* of the original posting - many people will just
see what you posted above. Not much in the way of useful information
without the background - so I have tacked on the entire 2007 (with a few
2008 posts scattered in) conversation with the link above.
