| Printer Installation Error 0x000006be
Connecting Vista machines to our current Window 2003 R2 print server has been a hit and miss experience. Connect and install fine, others throw a 0x000006be error when attempting to install the driver. One is especially pernicious. Color LJ 4650, won't install even though there is a Vista driver in the local store as well as on the Print Server. I thought Point and Print was supposed to sort this out? |

I thinks you need a newer driver for the printer from the vendor. In particular for your hp printer you need a newer version of hpbmini.dll See this for more details: http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/...2642&SiteID=17 |

Sandy, just install one of these drivers from HP to pickup the hpbmini.dll file that understands the Vista OS version. You do not have to have these printers and you can delete the driver after the install and still retain the updated file. |

I have had the same problem, and I am glad that the others are resolved, but I cannot get that far. I receive the same printing error when I try and install the download from the HP website, it either won't start, or it starts and tells me that the spooler isn't started, but of course that is the whole problem. Every time it starts it ends when something tries to use it. I even got an error from the HP website saying it doesn't have, and won't plan to have Vista driver downloads because they are included on the Vista sys. Do you understand my problem? What am I doing wrong? Is someone able to help me. The same problem as what? |

| Re: Printer Installation Error 0x000006be
Sorry, I thought you had access to the above threads. I will explain as concisely as possible. I have a computer with Vista (came pre-installed) on it and when I try and add a printer I get the Error: \"WINDOWS CAN'T OPEN ADD PRINTER. THE LOCAL PRINT SPOOLER SERVICE IS NOT RUNNING. PLEASE RESTART THE SPOOLER OR RESTART THE MACHINE.\" This is because the spooler appears to start with windows and then automatically turn off. When I go into services.msc and turn it on again it appears it turns on, but turns off again within about 5mins (error 0x000006be). When I start the service again and then quickly click add printer, after about 1 min delay, I get the following error message: \"WINDOWS CAN'T OPEN ADD PRINTER OPERATION COULD NOT BE COMPLETED (ERROR 0X000006BE).\" When I click add printer again, I get the first error message again, and the whole process repeats itself. I tried downloading the HP printer driver you suggested but during the installation I get the above errors. The first if I donīt previously start the spooler manually, and the second if I start the spooler manually and then quickly change to the setup program to install HPīs new printer drivers. If I choose another downloaded driver, I unzip the download but then canīt find any install files, and so canīt install the driver at all. I have spent a great deal of time searching and trying fixes for this problem, but thus far have been unsuccessfully. Very frustrating. You were able to help others with a similar printer install problem, so I hope you can help me also. What do you suggest? |

try this. It could be that a service that the Spooler service depends on is not starting. Remove all Print Spooler service dependencies other than the Remote Procedure Call service. |

The spooler service is failing. 1726 RPC_S_CALL_FAILED this could be due to a faulting or corrupted driver. What drivers are installed on the machine? Printers Folder , File, Server Properties, Drivers. |

| Re: Printer Installation Error 0x000006be
Thank you for the Suggestion MikeEgan. I think that I tried your suggestion, but none of the dependencies can be shut down. The Stop command is shaded, and thus it cannot be stopped. The other day I went through and shut down every service that it would let me, and after every couple restarted the spooler and tried to add a printer, but always gave the same error. After that I started shutting down processes from the task manager, until window shutdown. I checked the dependencies and they are HTTP & RPC, however, I started the fax and then checked back again and HTTP was gone. RPC nor its dependent DCOM are able to be stopped, and HTTP I cannot even find in the services. I found WinHTTP and started that and then the spooler, but same results. Thank you for the suggestion, have any more? Anyone? |

Thank you very much for your help. I did try this method of deleting all previously installed printers out of the registry and it worked beautifully. He also referred to a MS website for a more in depth removal, and for my problem it seemed that both were necessary. But the problem and the head ache are now gone. Thank you and all else who helped me with fixing this problem. |

This is for a HP Color Laser jet 2600n This is the procedure that I followed and it seems to work I have now done it twice with a reboot in between I downloaded the full English Package from the HP Website & unziped it to default location on the C: Drive I then cleared all the Useless ports that had accrued on the previous installs eg 192.168.1.72_1 and 192.168.1.72_2 and so on,I originally had 9 Do this by opening up another printers properties and viewing ports and deleting all ports for the printer you wish to install In my case 192.168.1.72 I then restarted my machine to clean things up, this may not have been needed. I then went to control panel / Printers / chose add a new printer / chose add a network printer / even though the printer was seen / I chose "the printer that I want isn't listed" / I then chose the option to add a printer using a TCP/IP address and entered my address ie 192.168.1.72 and took the tick from the box to automatically select driver to use Chose Next Install printer driver page pops up / choose have disk / next Browse to where the HP download was unzipped and locate the autorun.inf file / choose open and for me it was a flawless install /I got the option to print a test page /perfect Rebooted and test again / perfect |

Most likely the spooler service on the client is terminating due to the print driver from the server winerror 0x000006be 1726 RPC_S_CALL_FAILED <--> 0xc002001b RPC_NT_CALL_FAILED What OS is the machine sharing the printer? You can create local printer that copies the files to the share for the printer rather than create an RPC connection to queue. Create local printer Create a Local Port in the format \\remotemachine\printsharename Add the ImageClass driver (pickup the Vista driver for your OS architecture from Canon) Next Next Finish this will basically just copy the -- Alan Morris Windows Printing Team Search the Microsoft Knowledge Base here: http://support.microsoft.com/search/?adv=1 This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
