playback sound thrugh multiple playback devices

Is it possible to playback sound thrugh multiple playback devices? Or to
switch playback device without restarting all applications?

I have both speakers and headphones connected to my computer. I want to able
to use them at the same time. Is there any way to accomplish this?

Depending on the hardware, plugging in your headphones might simply disable
your speakers anyway at the hardware level.

I don't think you answered the question. I have the same issue. In XP I piped music to 5.1 speakers off my computer AND also to my receiver in the other room via SPDIF. Now I can only do 1 at a time in Vista. I have tried to find a solution for 2 weeks to no avail. Any help is appreciated.

Thx,
Chris S

RE: playback sound thrugh multiple playback devices

Is microsoft ever going to address this? It seems to me a huge step
backwards that you can't play multiple devices, especially when you could on
XP, and they are selling this stupid OS as media center thing!

I just upgraded from XP to Vista and I have this exact problem.
Any solution yet?
