| Final Install Difficulties with ATI X1600 Pro with 512MB of memory
I downloaded the final version of Windows Vista RTM from the website. I have a Sapphire Radeon X1600 Pro with 512MB (AGP). I have seen multiple people complaining about installation problems with this version of cards. I still can't find a solution for this problem. The BSOD comes up after the install. Does Microsoft have any answers for this problem?? I know it has been a problem since RC1, and I have never seen an answer for this problem. It is not only a Sapphire card that is a problem. Other cards have shown this same problem. Please help!! |

What are the details on the BSOD? ? When does this occur? Are you using the ATI Vista beta drivers for the card? Drivers & Software: http://atitech.com/support/driver.html I would check with ATI support or the vendor where you purchased the card for help. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User jplappo wrote: > I downloaded the final version of Windows Vista RTM from the website. > I have a Sapphire Radeon X1600 Pro with 512MB (AGP). | Re: Final Install Difficulties with ATI X1600 Pro with 512MB of memory Hi If you have a PC with AMD 64 x2 install VistabootPro and set it to 1 CPU and you can install the vista drivers. It works also with Aero. John "Ronnie Vernon MVP" <ronv@mvps.org> schrieb im Newsbeitrag news:uBmYUTlDHHA.4956@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... What are the details on the BSOD? ? When does this occur? Sorry, should have given more info. The problem occurs right around the time of the reboot for the 1st start time up. Unfortunately, the blue screen of death happens right around then. I never get a chance to select any drivers, since the crash occurs then. I did see it say that there was a problem with video something, but the BSOD goes away very quickly. If you search around on TechNet and Google, you will see that many other people are reporting this same problem. ONe person who seemed to get it to work changed their aperature from 64Mb to 256MB for the 512 card, but that option is not available on my BIOS. go into your bios and under "advanced features" (or similar depending on what bios you have) there should be an entry that reads "boot VGA to" on that entry you should have an option of PCI, AGP, or PCI-E select the appropriate one, but regardless wether you have an AGP card or PCI express PCI should not be selected that will in most circumstances cause a hardware conflict which your screen seems to indicate. I hope this helps "coolcat" <coolcat@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:988A95E0-7B59-4CBB-A2A7-39E809A9A835@microsoft.com... > Hello I am having the same problem. Still haven't seen a solution for this problem. I tried it again today after having a stable install for Vista with a Nvidia 256MB 6200. Less power than my card, but it still didn't work, tried to install drivers in safe mode and others, but it still crashes.
