| Photoshop CS2 and Aero Glass
Well, after finally getting photoshop to install and run properly I still can't find a way to get it to run using the Aero Glass interface. Acrobat 7 runs fine...why not photoshop? Anyone have an idea? thanks |

| Re: Photoshop CS2 and Aero Glass
I currently have the same problem, but i think it may be due to updates not installing correctly. I have used photoshop on RC2 pervious and had Aero. After re-installing RC2 and then installing photoshop CS2 the colour scheme changes to windows classic. My only problem, at the moment, is that the auto updates have not installed and i think this is the problem. I will have to download all the latest updates individually and see if that cures the problem. -- John Barnett MVP Associate Expert http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org http://vistasupport.mvps.org The information in this mail/post is supplied "as is". I too am having the same problem with RC2. Tried to maually download updates to CS2, but I am told there are non for my system. It would appear that my CS2 is up to date but still will only work in Windows Basic colours. My Photoshop 6.0 seems to work fine with Aero! ;-) Is there anything you can turn off in CS2 to check if it is forcing this behavior? There are known compatibility issues with Photoshop CS2 and Vista RC2+. It may or may not shut down desktop composition, disable Aero glass, or run at all (workaround is run as Admin if UAC enabled). John, Yes sorry if it wasn't clear. Running it as admin. was to resolve the "not running at all" issue. Overall point is Adobe Photoshop CS2 has some issues. | Re: Photoshop CS2 and Aero Glass
It's not just Photoshop CS2 that does this. Macromedias Fireworks 8 also changes the screen visuals to 'basic'. The error message for both programs is the same. They tried to perform an action that causes the system to run in Vista Basic. The system reverts to Aero when the programs are closed. I had the same problem with updates for Photoshop. They were downloaded, and I checked that they were in their various folders within the Updater folder. When I ran update I got messages telling me that the update had failed. When I restarted Photoshop it showed that it was now version 9.0.2 so that update had worked. When I looked into the Updater folders there were no updates there. I ran the check for updates from within Photoshop and it says none available. I came across something similar with the AJAX toolkit. The system said that the installation had failed, yet when I ran Visual Studio the toolkit was available. Weird! Graham. | Re: Photoshop CS2 and Aero Glass
Graham you have had the same problem as i have regarding Photoshop updates. I used the automatic update when i first installed Photoshop on Vista and found that half of them 'failed to install'. I then went to the download page on the Adone site and downloaded all the available downloads. Again, on attempting to install, half failed. It may be a case that, in keeping with many other software manufacturer's, Adobe are not going to put out a fix for these problems until Microsoft actually release Vista. -- John Barnett MVP Associate Expert http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org http://vistasupport.mvps.org The information in this mail/post is supplied "as is". The most obvious way was after opening PS CS2 is to stop the dwm and then restart it. So after launching CS2 go to the run box and write: net stop uxsms and then then net start uxsms that brings back the glassey look when running CS2. But sure there must be a more easy way to get it back... This works, which is great, but is there any way of automating it? A little batch file?
