Error code 0xC004E003 on windows activation.

Hey guys, I need some urgent help from you all. I recently downloaded a new Windows Vista copy, installed it about 2 weeks ago but dint activated at that time. Now when I am trying to activate the same, I receive and error message saying:

“Code:0xC004E003

Description: The software licensing service reported that license evaluation failed.”

Any idea what is the problem? Why I am not able to activate my Windows? Please help.

Hello Chitesh, even i am facing the same problem with my Vista copy. Seems like it is any kind of bug. As per troubleshooting i went through several Articles, tried doing phone activation, tried changing product key,but nothing helped. Still whenever i try activating windows, it says code 0xC004E003 and Confirmation ID not valid for the installation ID.

I heard many Microsoft guys reply here in this newsgroup. Is there anyone who can help us out of this problem?

May be it is a bug. have you guys ever ran Windows Update on your systems? As the Windows is still in Beta edition there could be some bugs which gets fixed by the most recent updates. Get yourself over to Microsoft Update (from Vista), The most recent update for Vista Beta 2 fixes that bug.

Thank you very much for the help Scott. But the problem is my Control Panel also seems to be locked. I am not able to run Windows Update. Unable to use any option from the control panel. Though i am the only Admin of this system, it only allows me to use Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer. Thats it.

What to do? Please help.

I had the same problem, struggled for more than 10 days. Later I gave up and reformatted my drive, then reinstalled Vista. What do ya know, it activated just fine!

Hello friends, i must you all 'Just Relax'. This is all what we call Beta Testing. There may be bugs in the new OS and it will come in view by doing all these things. Just report this to MS and they will fix it soon by Windows Updates.
