Re: Opening iso-files in Vista

IsoBuster and UltraISO work to open ISO files. There aren't really any virtual
drive programs that work in Vista though. There was one, but I can't think of
the name of it ATM.

I've not tried and it doesn't say that it supports Vista.

I just have a feeling it works :-) Then again it might render Vista
unbootable :-)

Or if you don't need mounting tool then WinRAR might do for simple
extraction. Doesn't read UDF though.

Re: Opening iso-files in Vista

The latest Daemon Tools release has the unfortunate side effect of
deactivating Vista. To reactivate Vista, uninstall Daemon Tools. So if you
don't mind uninstalling it every 14 days....... ;o)

Re: Opening iso-files in Vista

Try this one....MagicISO it will at least mount and create ISO files in vista
beta 2, it also will actually show the files in the x64 version (yes there is
more than a readme file in it!)

Re: Opening iso-files in Vista

Were you able to get it to mount images in x64?
I installed MagicISO-which made an ISO image...
I then installed MagicDisc(as Administrator) which is their mounting
program, but it says that "MagicDisc doesn't detenct driver(mcdbus), Please
re-install MagicDisc to re-install MagicDisc Virtual CD/DVD Rom"

Re: Opening iso-files in Vista

I installed magic disc like you said but i'm not sure how to create the dvd
from it and make it bootable. Should I convert it to an iso first ,then burn
it or am I missing a step?

The file you downloaded from Microsoft is already in ISO format.
Simply burn it to a DVD using a DVD burning utility. The DVD burner
may or may not require you to mount the image first. If so, mount it,
then burn it. If the burner software auto-mounts the ISO file (as
Nero Burning Rom does), all you need to do is burn it.

Above all, do not set the burn speed of your DVD burner to greater
than 2X. 1X would be safer.

I've never used " MagicDisk" before, but there may be a selection to
burn an ISO onto a DVD, or mount an ISO, then select the mounted ISO,
then burn it to a DVD.

Make sure to set the disk format to "UDF", NOT "Joliette" or "CD"
Double-clicking on the Microsoft ISO before starting Nero, for
example, will auto-mount the ISO and add it to a new burn job, and
automatically set the disk format to UDF.
