Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor

Am running Vista Premium (pre-installed) on my computer which was
purchased in June 2007. I am now thinking of updating to Windows 7 but
here lies the problem.
Have today downloaded the Windows 7 Update Advisor to check my
computer but when i tried running the programme it came up with the
following message * Windows 7 Update Advisor was unable to reach the
Microsoft server for compatability information. Check your internet
connection and try again later *.
Now i may not be up in the world of computer technology but can
anybody explain why this should happen when i can send this email from
my own pc via the internet?
Would it possibly have anything to do with the fact that the pc keeps
refusing to install 2 updates these being;
1) Service Pack 2 &
2) Net Framework packs 3.5
Also some months ago i lost the * Adjust Time/Date facility * but have
not missed it all that much since it is rarely used.

Any help in resolving these issues would be greatly appreciated.

What AV and Firewall are you using? You might disable these and try
again. For sure if you are going to use vista you want SP2. I don't
know that I would have paid full price for the upgrade from Vista to
Win 7, but you may.

Re: Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor

You need to work out why the update isnt working before you try installing
anything
If you manually run MSUpdate, then review updates, there will be a '?' icon
next to any failed update, clicking this may lead to an explanation
