Windows 7 and NVidia cards BSOD

I have Googled for hours and not found a solution yet. I am posting here
because there is no official Windows 7 newsgroup yet that can be read with
good Ol' Outlook Express, and because the problem seems to happen with Vista
users as well.

I recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit from my TechNet subscription.
I have an Intel D975XBX2 motherboard, 4GB memory, and two eVGA GeForce 7600
GT video cards running four LCD displays.

My computer will consistently BSOD after trying to wake up from sleep mode,
and always gets a STOP 0x00000116 on nvlddmkm.sys file. I have tried the
190.38 and 190.62 drivers to no avail.

None of the "fixes" I have read about on Google searches makes any
difference.

How can I stop the BSOD.

My computer runs fine on XP Pro SP3 (dual boot).

Thank you!

Don't use sleep mode until nvidia updates their drivers.

when you say BSOD, does that mean Bestiality Sex OverDose?

there was recent nvidia driver update , like in last 5 days.
be sure you have the latest.

Time to make room to call tech support. Still get BSOD on 191.07 drivers released today.

Did you ever resolve this BSOD sleep problem? I have almost the same system:

Intel D975XBX2 motherboard, 2 nvidia 7900GS. I recently upgraded to Windows 7 x 64.

In XP Pro, sleep works.

I get a BSOD upon waking from sleep in Vista x64 and Windows 7 x 64 and the message indicates that nvlddmkm.sys is the culprit.

I have the most recent nvidia drivers installed 260.99

I think that you are either looking at overheating or potentially a broken GPU - how old is the computer anyways? Did the problem start all of a sudden, or just one day when you powered it on? Can you get it to log in at all with the NVidia drivers installed? Did you already try to turn your PC into sleepmode instead of turning it off? Or donīt your PC ever boot completly at all?

Re: Windows 7 and NVidia cards BSOD

Problem solved for the D975XBX2.

To test that it really was the nvidia driver I ran msconfig and under the boot tab selected base video. This base video option is suppose to load the minimal vga support driver that Windows 7 supplies and not the nvidia driver. With this option checked sleep functions as it should AND the nvidia drivers are still loaded!

A very simple solution that I stumbled upon.

I used the latest nvidia drivers 260.99 but I suspect the solution will work for much earlier drivers too.
