| Network Printing Brutally Slow I am printing on a home network, the clients being laptops running Vista Ultimate 32, and the "print server" still running XP Professional on SP2. I set up an HP AIO 8500 on the network, but printing to it from the clients is painfully slow - 20 minutes for a single three page PDF? Part of me thinks the print protocol written by Microsoft is the stupidest protocol ever written - I've always felt that network printing was not really distributed - but something else seems to be at play this time that makes it slower and more pitiful than ever. Is printing from Vista clients to a shared XP print resource just not a good thing, or is there something else I could set on either end that would make this go better? Thanks. -- John James Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |

| Re: Network Printing Brutally Slow
I have both winxp & vista PC's on the network, all connected via router that features a printer server and have had no such issues. Recently added a printer to one PC that connects via a seperate wireless print server, also no issues All are HP printers. It would appear something is wrong with your setup "John James" <John.James.3uelwc@no-mx.forums.vistaheads.com> wrote in message news:John.James.3uelwc@no-mx.forums.vistaheads.com... > > I am printing on a home network, the clients being laptops running Vista > Ultimate 32, and the "print server" still running XP Professional on > SP2.
