IE8 Vista Home 64 Bit Problems

I am having problems with IE8. I am told it is ver. 8.0.6001.18762. Tried to download a game and I was told that I was using IE8 32 bit on a 64 bit system. I tried to download IE8 64 bit and I was told that I have a newer version than I was downloading. Not sure how to solve this problem but I have had a lot of problems since I downloaded IE8. How to I go back to another version of IE.
Also, I can not open the games that are on my computer.
Appreciate any help that I get.
