Sleep Mode - 9f BCCode - Blue Screen

Windows Vista Home Premium installed on a Dell Dimension C521. When the
computer goes to sleep it crashes (blue screen of death). I changed the sleep
timer and not surprisingly the amount of time befor it crashed changed. I'm
sure they are related but do not know how/why to fix. I've read other threads
and looked for solutions but didn't find any that worked.

I have owned the computer for almost two years with no issue. Below if the
problem report from today. This has been happening with regularity since Nov
11, 2008. I double checked and did not install any new software or Windows
Updates on that date. While I am still under warranty from Dell their Tech
Support indicated this is a Microsoft issue, that their Tech Support does not
    cover this type of issue.

Can someone provide a solution or make some suggestions? I can provide the
    supporting reference files if helpful.

Pardon my ignorance, but if I am reading your response correctly you are
    suggesting that because I have a Windows Vista-based computer ('e' below), I
should install KB929762. Is this correct? I found and downloaded KB929762
from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929762, but would like to first be able
to tell if I might already have it installed. How can I most easily check to
see if I already have it installed?

Your posting properties indicate that you've already installed SP1, so that
update would not be appropriate as you already have the updated files it
    includes.

Crashes coming out of sleep mode are usually caused by a driver that doesn't
support this mode. You may have obtained a driver update through windows
update that is causing the problem. This file:

    C:\Windows\Minidump\Mini020409-08.dmp

may contain information that identifies the problem. Could you send it to me
at rick_at_mvps_dot_org using a subject line of "per req"?

Re: Sleep Mode - 9f BCCode - Blue Screen

I occassionally get this code too. I run Vista SP1.

But I do not allow my computer to sleep. In fact, it only appears at startup: the computer will show the mouse pointer, and nothing else for like 10 min, and then produces a BSOD before rebooting and loading properly. I tried to read the Minidump file generated, but can't find the important part.

If anyone could please take a look at my Minidump files, I would be grateful.

    Thanks.

Re: Sleep Mode - 9f BCCode - Blue Screen

I used to have Vista SP1 installed and this black screen with mouse showing only. What I used to do was pressing CTRL+ALT+DELETE and select to run TASK-MANAGER, from there I browse and run EXPLORER.EXE (windows explorer, not IExplorer) from the first menu in task manager File>Run Task.

After that all programs, icons and background came back to normal. a bit tedious but effective.

Later on I blow out vista and reinstall it and this time I update it to SP2 and since then all it's working fine.

    hope this helps you out.
