| Just reinstalled vista, stuck at loading screen.
Hey guys, I just felt like reinstalling vista and doing a complete wipe of my HD. When I put the CD to install it, I deleted my partitions and created new ones, and I installed vista on one of them. The installation than proceeds as normal but it ends up freezing at a black screen, where only the mouse cursor is usable. I then manually shut off my computer and started it up, and it gets stuck at the windows loading screen. I've already gone into my bios and did a default reset, but that didn't do anything. I also tried reinstalling vista two times but it doesn't help. Anyone know what the problem could be? *note this was on a dell laptop. Last edited by Cael : 10-01-2009 at 09:01 AM. |

I think you should make sure that the drive you are installing to, is really properly formatted, and clean before you start the new install. I had to use my XP install disk to do the necessary, and then stop when the drive is ready. Then Vista works correctly, Piet "Cael" <Cael.3ls2bg@DoNotSpam.com> wrote in message news:Cael.3ls2bg@DoNotSpam.com... > > Hey guys, > > I just felt like reinstalling vista and doing a complete wipe of my HD. > When I put the CD to install it, I deleted my partitions and created new > ones, and I installed vista on one of them. How do I make sure the drive is properly formatted? The only XP disk I have handy is a reinstallation disk for an old computer, but it doesn't recognize any of the hard drives if I use that one. |
