The Sims won't install

Hey,
When i try to install the original sims onto vista it comes up with
this error message:

'SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers. Virtual Device
Driver format in the registry is invalid. Choose 'Close' to terminate
the program.

[Close] '

I searched around and found a guide that told me to locate the
VirtualDeviceDrivers in 'Redegt32'.

However, when I look for the file the VirtualDeviceDrivers folder in
the Redegt32 program, it isn't there!
Does anyone know what to do?

Thanks
