Good evening, Do you have a Genuine copy of Windows? "I get a 80244019 error when I try to update Vista 64. Not only that but I get an error when I try to update the Media Center, Defender (error 0x80190194), anything at all. Have I been blacklisted by Microsoft? I tried reinstalling Windows but the problem is always there. It's not a virus. All other sites by other companies work fine. I tried to call for help but Microsoft tells me the free period has expired. Strange because it was a new installation at the time. Can anybody help me here?" => "Have you tried: Automatic Updates and WindowsUpdate Reset tool http://www.codeplex.com/aureset Otherwise - How to obtain assistance from MS Support To contact Microsoft for support issues, visit the International Support Web site: https://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspx To make sure you receive the appropriate support information for your location, select your region setting from the list and then click the arrow button." |

| RE: Windows Vista updater won't install or check for updates! http://search.microsoft.com/results....or%3a+80244019 Above is various search results for your problem. You may be infected. Use your AV, and the programs below, in Safe Mode to scan, (or Safe Mode with Networking, if you can not get on the Net to download, install and update them) and remove any problems. http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html Spybot Search & Destroy 1.6 is a very good, FREE Anti-Spyware Program. Download, install, update, and immunize your System with it. Then SCAN with it. Update it, and scan your System once a fortnight. http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php Malwarebytes is as the name says, a Malware Remover! For the Free version scroll down their page to either download from Download.com, or Major Geeks.com Download, install, and update. Important re: Safe Mode If you happen to find a problem that you can’t uninstall / delete, reboot the computer, and go into Safe Mode. To get into Safe mode, tap F8 right at Power On / Startup, and use UP arrow key to get to Safe Mode from list of options, then hit ENTER. RESCAN your computer with your Anti-Virus, Malwarebytes and Spybot S & D while in Safe Mode. If unable to install above Programs in Normal Mode: Sometimes Trojans, Viruses, Malware, etc stop you installing and/or updating Programs to remove them. If that happens, reboot into Safe Mode with Networking, and install, update and scan from there. -- Mad Mike "celticjamee" wrote: > > yes i have a genuine copy of window. came with puter. but i tried the > codeplex.com link u sent for windows update reset tool and can not get in. > how else could i get this? when i got to microsoft.com it can't validate and > the alternate method does not run either. any suggestions? > "Alex" wrote: > > > Good evening, > > Do you have a Genuine copy of Windows? > > > > "I get a 80244019 error when I try to update Vista 64. | Re: Windows Vista updater won't install or check for updates!
To Mick Murphy, THANK YOU! I've been going batty for hours trying to figure out why my father's Vista pc will not update. Microsoft was no help, nor other Google search results, until I stumbled upon your post... Sure enough, his DNS had been compromised...once I removed the false DNS servers, I was able to do Windows Update as well as update his Internet Security software (AV/Firewall etc). Now I scan :) Thanks again, Valerie |
