| How to repair Vista off a USB hard drive I am new here. I am having problems with my computer. See it wouldn't browse the internet even when the internet was clearly connected. So I decided to do a system restore. I have system restored before but this time something went wrong. It won't boot up. So I was wondering if I could use a USB HDD to repair my computer. It was running "Windows Vista Home Premium 32x" It is an Acer Aspire computer. Thanks a lot for your help. |

With an ACER, you would only have the "back to factory" option for recovery. Download the correct version of a simple Vista Repair ISO file from the above site, make a bootable disk, reboot and do a startup repair. And forget the USB HD! When you say "it won't boot" to what state does it get? I would use the F8 or if you get the menu, choose 'Last Known Good'. |

I am looking for someplace that will repair my physical computer. With so many computer repair options in Cary, how can I decide where to take my computer when it needs service? |

First of all, avoid the Geek Squad or any other service part of a big box store. Those are typically the poorest service you can find. Look for a smaller company that does computer service. It can be hard to choose one over the others, but try to get recommendations from other users. If you have a PC Users Group in your community, that can be a good place to ask for recommendations. |

| Re: How to repair Vista off a USB hard drive
Please, pardon me if im jumping protocols or posting this in the wrong place. My HP laptop has been giving me a blue screen error message every minute until i ran into a page online to disable my autorestart on star up to be able to get a particular error message before it restarts, which i did. Eventually my system wouldnt even boot agai. I try running the restor or even going on safe mode to uninstall some new sofwares but the system wouldnt even load windows. It gives me the blue screen error everytime it wants to load windows and wouldnt even repair or load the last known good configuration. Please, help me. I dont have enough money for a new hard disk less buying a certified new Vista OS. Please, anyone with a step-by-step instruction to fix this should kindly email me at toxzie@hotmail.com or toxzie@gmail.com. Please save a life. |
