help!! move media player trouble

i've been watching shows on ABC.go.com for a while now without a
problem, but since last week i've not been able to access the shows. i
have installed and uninstalled the move media player hundreds of times,
and even reinstalled java and adobe flash player, and nothing works.
i've also tried putting the sites on my "trusted sites" and still no
go!! i'm able to see the commercial and when i click to load the video,
it just loads and loads with out ever playing. i have also recently
upgraded to ie8, but the problems began w/ ie7 and didn't get better
w/ie8, and i use windows vista. please someone help me!! I need to find
out what is going on with Betty!!!!!

Re: help!! move media player trouble

You must do these in order listed EVEN if you have done them before.

CLOSE ALL IE and rest you can.

Start IE - TOOLS - Manage Add-ons - Enable or Disable Add-ons -
UNCHECK ALL and ANYTHING that looks like JAVA RELATED.
Such as Sun and any and all Java Plugins. You can re-enable these
AFTER you have ABC.COM working OR as needed.

CLOSE IE

A. Uninstall Move Networks Player in Programs Add-Remove in Control panel.

B. In "C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\LocalLow\Move Networks"
DELETE the Move Networks Folder if it is there.

Check "C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\LocalLow" for Move Networks and
DELETE the Move Networks Folder if it is there.

Check ALL users to make it easier if someone else needs the player. (Delete for
ALL)

C. Go to http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp and make sure you have
THAT latest Java. In Control Panel CLICK JAVA - In Java Control Panel
CLICK JAVA tab - CLICK BOTH VIEW's and UNCHECK ALL
except 1.6.0_10.

REBOOT

Start IE - http://www.movenetworks.com/ install the player. A Java Applet that requires
1.6.0_10 is used so if that does not come up while you are installing the Player then you have
not done JAVA correctly so start ALL over and do in order listed.

D. Go to ABC.COM and you should be ok now.

Re: help!! move media player trouble

Do what I said, the way I said and it will work. The issue is you, not
ABC.com.... the problem was caused by a problem with Java and
the Player.

Re: help!! move media player trouble

hello again, just one question, when I install the move media player
again, I am able to see the test video and everything installs well, am
I supposed to see a java applet when doing this? because all I see is
the test video from move media. and when you say reboot, is that the
same as restart?

i'm really grateful for your help, please have patience with me, i'm
not a computer wizz.

Re: help!! move media player trouble

Reboot means to restart the computer.

When you are at Move Networks and installing the Player
you should see a Line that says "Installing Player" AND
there should be two Java Screens pop below it that say
what is happening. If you get the "Installing Player" yet
the two Java Screens do not show then the player is not
installed. If you see the Test Video at Move Networks
I would have to assume the Player installed properly.

Re: help!! move media player trouble

hello again, i'm sorry, but i don't know what i'm doing wrong. I've
tried exactly what you said, and i still can't seem to get it to work. I
disable java, verify it is current and i only have 1.6.0_10 checked,
then i unistall move, reinstall it after i restart the computer, and
everything installs wells with move, but i still can't see the video. is
there any other possibility, or something i may be doing wrong, or
something i may be confusing?

one other thing, i live in mexico and supposedly i can't see the videos
outside the us, but i watched the videos for 3 weeks before i had this
problem. do you think this can be the problem?

Re: help!! move media player trouble

Java must be enabled in IE to properly install MOVE PLAYER.

START IE

THEN try Re-enabling in IE - Tools - Manage Addins - make sure
all JAVA there is ENABLED.

CLOSE IE and RESTART IE check again that JAVA is enabled in
Manage Add-ins....

Then go to Move Site and install Player.

If that does not work then possibly you have something else running
in IE that blocks the player loading.

I had the same problem, and the procedure that guy stated did not fix it. I
figured out the problem was my iZ3d 3D DLP drivers. I removed them and now
ESPN360 and ABC.com work like a charm

So they did work AND you had something else causing
a problem.

Re: help!! move media player trouble

After much struggle and frustration with the "frozen grey box" issue after the commercial, I got it working by doing the following: I needed to enable hardware acceleration. Display properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> Troubleshoot -> Hardware acceleration = Full.
That did it for me!

Re: help!! move media player trouble

I have been through the same predicament. The only website that Movie Media Player seems to work correctly is Fox.com where I downloaded it from. However I have been reading a lot on internet connections and decided that I just may have to go to cable internet to get a steady transmission because of late DSL has not been as steady as it should be. More Ram is suggested too. I have about 20 more gigs of ram I can shove into my computer and see if that will make a difference too. But ultimately for video playback and gaming cable internet is the way to go. It's better than 1.5 Mhps.
