    How to restart spooler?

I have a Lexmark X1270 printer, which ran okay on XP, but hasn't worked
properly on Vista. So I've uninstalled the driver and installed the Vista
driver from their website. Now, I get Windows messages that the spooler has
been stopped. How do I restart it? When I type "net start spooler" at the
command prompt I get System Error 5.

Start, control panel ,admistrative tools, services, scroll down to
print spooler and do a right click

TY. Did that, but soon after I get the message "Spooler subsystem app
    stopped working and was closed."

I have the very same problem: Vista OpSys, Lexmark X1270 printer, same fix tried, same failure to start when I clicked on "Start." Slight difference in the error posted. Mine said: "Windows could not start the Print Spooler service on local printer. Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start."

I have no idea what that last sentence means. Sure hope somone reading this can offer further help.

I finally overcame this problem by restoring my system to a date just prior to when I started trying to install the Lexmark X1270 printer. I'm not going to try again to install that printer.
