No Mic Mute/Unmute button visible in Windows XP

In Windows XP, on the system tray, the mute/unmute button is not working. I only need that for Mic. Because I record some narration in that and need to take halt. I checked in the settings but somehow it looks there issue with the speaker. I cannot find any option to fix it. Am I missing something here.

Do you have any hot key settings. There area ample of systems available that has hot key settings. You can must and unmute with that. Second thing you need to do is check in the audio properties. The option that you can see in the audio panels can be added or can be removed. So that simply means you need to check the mic option and then use it.
