Raid 5 with Vista Ultimate x64 on non Raid drive... No boot disk detected!

Hello all, , great forum.

I have a problem.
Just finished building my new workstation.
I have:
1x 250GB SATA drive on wich I want to install Vista Ultimate x64.
3x 500GB SATA drive wich i'd like to have running in Raid-5.
Asus P5E motherboard.
Q6600 core.

My first take was this:
1) connect all HDD's
2) Install vista on 250GB drive, leave 500GB drives alone for now.
3) Update Vista.
4) Restart, enable RAID in BIOS.
5) Ctrl+I at startup, setup RAID-5 with the 3 500GB HDD's in RAID
manager.

So far so good.....
RAID manager shows RAID-5 correctly and shows that 250GB drive is
non-raid.

6) Reset, problem: no startup *"No bootbable drives found"*

In BIOS, it shows all drives under boot devices, and the 250GB drive as
the first boot disk.
But before the 250GB name it sais RAID also, wich I guess it should
not...

What am I doing wrong?

Did you install the raid drivers when you installed Vista (Press F6 to load
drivers from floppy etc.). If not then it is likely that all the drives were
running in EIDE mode (which doesnt neeed drivers in Vista or XP) but
switching on raid for any drive sets the system to running in raid/ahci mode
which does require drivers. I am sure there is a workaround to install them
after the operating system is installed but if you havent installed much
software or configured Vista then the easiest option in my opinion would be
just to reinstall and load the drivers at the prompt.

Drivers from Asus, or your mobo cd
You need to read mobo manual on implimenting both sata as a boot drive & the
raid drives as it varies by mobo & controler

Re: Raid 5 with Vista Ultimate x64 on non Raid drive... No boot disk detected!

There is no F6 option in Vista. The equivalent is the Load Drivers button
on the installation options page.
