| Mouse alignment
I am having a problem with my mouse pointer. When I move the pointer/arrow over an "X" I have noticed that if I try to click on the "X" (or whatever the button may be for that matter) I have to actually move the pointer so that it is above what I want to select. The odd thing is though, that this is not always the case. Sometimes the poiner works just fine. I have noticed that this does not happen on just certain applications; for the most part it just randomly happens. It does consistently happen howver with the items shown in the tray at the lower right portion of my screen. Any ideas how to fix this? It is very annoying!! |

Is this a laptop? If so, have you disabled the touchpad to see if things improve? What kind of mouse and how is it attached? We really need to know about your setup to make suggestions. I have the same problem. I am running a Dell 420 with Vista using an optical mouse which I had no problem with using it on the old computer with XP. "Colin Barnhorst" wrote: > Is this a laptop? Thank goodness someone else is experiencing this - I thought I was all alone in the world! I'm running a new Dell Inspiron 530 with Vista Premium on a Samsung SM226BW, using a Logitech LX710 mouse (which worked fine on XP). I've re-loaded, down-loaded and reloaded the drivers for the mouse and for the monitor. I've ticked the "enhance pointer precision" box on the Mouse Properties. If you need to know anything else please do I ask. I so need to get this sorted! The brand new dell mocrosoft hid-compliant wired mouse does the same thing with my brand new dell vista XPS 420. It does it badly in windows. I almost could not get the name of the mouse through control panel because the mouse and little hand are so far off alignment. | Re: Mouse alignment Hi Just wondering has anyone found a definite solution to this issue yet? Have been reading around and there seem to be a couple of common factors here: - Recent Dell machine (XPS / Vostro) - *ATI Radeon HD 2600XT graphics card* - Monitor running at highest resolution. *Is everyone getting this on a 22" monitor?* I've seen a few posts relating to this. I notice someone else getting this on a Samsung 226BW - same as I've got.I've now tried 3 different mice (supplied Dell corded optical one, Logitech wireless one from S510 set, Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer for Bluetooth) - same issue on all. Had installed software for each in correct order, sticking to instructions. Have ensured I have the latest graphics card drivers (8.402.0.0), monitor driver (3.0.0.0) and mouse software/drivers. Tried all suggestions on mouse pointer schemes. Anything else?! V frustrating. Have contacted Dell Support but they've suggested reloading Vista - something I want to avoid as it took me nearly 2 days to get everything installed the way I want it! -- le_sloth Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |

My new Dell with ATI Radeon HD 2400 PRO had the same problem. But it's not a new problem, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/109517. There Microsoft suggests the video driver is the cause. Indeed, installing the latest driver solved it for me. | Re: Mouse alignment FYI I have now resolved this problem. Had Dell Technician here, reinstalled Vista on new hard drive - problem still existed. Then we found ATI have just released (16/4/2008) a 'driver update' (http://tinyurl.com/2lc2px). This fixed the mouse alignment problems :). Strange as this issue isn't mentioned in the release notes. -- le_sloth Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |

| mouse pointer misalignment
I found this answer on the dell web site and it works for me without reloading drivers etc. 1. Right clisk the desktop and select "Personalize". 2. Select "Mouse Pointers", and then the "Pointers" tab. 3. From the "Scheme" drop-down list select "(None)". 4. Press OK and exit the dialogues. |
