| dxdiag not showing the correct video driver version.
I updated the drivers for the ATI card in my laptop and I'm running into 2 problems: 1) Vista won't accept anything but signed drivers ( tried installing the newest 8.451 drivers from ATI and Vista doesn't show they are installed), and 2) dxdiag is not showing the correct driver version when it has a signed driver (have version 8.31 but is reported as 7.14). Can anyone help me with this? |

Vista x64 requires signed drivers but Vista x86 does not. I have the 32 bit version, but it still won't accept the new drivers from ATI (the 8.451 Catalyst drivers). I've tried several times and still nothing. It would not have anything to do with driver signing. At most you would see a message that the driver was not signed and asked if you wanted to proceed anyway. Yes, and nothing was of use. That did come up once, and it never installed the driver when I said "I wanted to install it anyway". "Colin Barnhorst" wrote: > It would not have anything to do with driver signing. I guess there's no solution to my problem then. | RE: dxdiag not showing the correct video driver version. Are you using an ATi Radeon Xpress 200M chipset by any chance? Because I am facing the same problem on my laptop as well. The drivers install, but it is not reflected in Device Manager, DXDiag or anywhere else. Bruce, If you do an F8 boot you will see the option to install Unsigned drivers. This ability will last till you reboot again.
