    DVD-ROM gone missing!

I have a notebook on which the dvd has stopped working, and has disappeared from My Computer and Windows Explorer. Previously it was there and I used to burn the dvd's as well, but now it doesnt show up only. When I check in device manager then it gives error code 39 - Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupt or missing. This problem started when I downloaded and installed some updates in my Windows Vista system. So, in any case, from where should I download the drivers for the drive?

Follow the below steps to solve this problem:

    1. Click Start button and then click Control Panel.
    2. Click System and Maintenance, click System, and then click Device Manager.
Note: If Control Panel is in Classic View, double-click System, and then click Device Manager.
    3. User Access Control permission
    4. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
    5. In Device Manager, expand DVD/CD-ROM drives, right-click the CD and DVD devices, and then click Uninstall.
    6. When you are prompted to confirm that you want to remove the device, click OK.
    7. Restart the computer.
    8. After the computer restarts, the drivers will be automatically installed.
