CD ROM and DVD RW not visible in Windows XP

Somehow in Windows XP my old CD-ROM and DVD-RW is not working. It is not visible in My Computer and I checked it inside Device Manager also. It just disappeared. I hope there would be some way by which I would be able to locate proper drivers and bring them back. I was just updating my system recently and this thing happened. I had checked the cable connection which was proper. There was no issue with the connectivity.

It can be due to drivers. I found a link below which has bit detailed step to install the optical media back again. You can before that verity in BIOS whether both is detected or not. You can find that on the boot screen also. If none of those optical media is listed then there is a hardware failure. You can change cable and check.
