Cannot eject Memory card in Windows Vista Home Premium

I have a Acer Aspire laptop which has integrated card reader. When I insert a memory card it shows me a small green icon on the system tray. I can click on that and eject. But from couple of days it is not allowing me to eject the card. I do not know why. If I use a usb memory card reader then there is no issue at all. So does there is some problem with the memory card. How can fix this.

It can be due to some application. I faced the same once. I am using a Video converter. I basically convert some video and transfer them directly in the memory card. I had kept the default storage location as the removable card. So till the time the video converter is working I cannot eject the card. I have to close it completely. There might be some kind of associated applications which is causing the problem. You can try to re-install the same through device manager and I think that might fix the problem.
