Problem with Mobile Intel 945 Express Chipset Family

I have a dell laptop with a mobile intel 945GM. When my laptop is on startup
a black line appears moving up and down all along the screen, i uninstall the
driver and the problem was fixed but the resolution was awful, i reinstall
the driver and the problem appeared again. I tried with a desktop monitor and
the problem is still there. What can i do?

Just to be sure - do you have the latest driver from Intel?

http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/CS-022034.htm

I have same chipset on a different laptop with no issues.

Is the Dell still under warranty?

Yes, i have the lastest driver: 7.14.10.1283

My dell is under warranty but when I bought it, it had Windows XP, I
upgraded it to Vista Ultimate, i'm thinking to format my hard disk and
reinstall the Vista. What do you think?

I don't know if dell could still giving me support for another OS. I
calling right now lol.

Have you checked the Dell website for compatibility information about your
model laptop, any necessary updates, etc. for compatibility with Vista?

Re: Problem with Mobile Intel 945 Express Chipset Family

Hi,guy,

I met the same problem with my Dell laptop. Please don't install the latest
945GM graphic driver from intel. I rolled back to old drivers of 945GM, like
7.14.10.1114 and 7.14.10.1187 without that issue, but I think the latter may
be better.

Good luck!
