DVD/CD drivers are missing or corrupted or something

*.- HJ3133V FNA365Y SCSI CdRom Device: Windows cannot load the device driver
for this hardware. The drvier may be corrupted or missing. (code 39)

*.- HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4084N ATA Device: Windows cannot load the device
driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

2 Days ago i was able to used this device now a can not even play a music

comment on the desktop bar that says: "Windows cannot load the driver please
check the manufacturer for a solution"...i have a HP Pavilion dv6174cl

I should add to my previous post that although the title of the article
doesn't include it, "You receive an 'error code 39' error message" is
mentioned in the article as a symptom of the problem.

If it worked a couple of days ago, is System Restore an option, that is,
restoring to a point, say, 3 days ago?

Re: DVD/CD drivers are missing or corrupted or something

thanks Don for your answer...you are right, that message implies that i have
2 devices...but i do not...i only have one device DVD/CD burner with
lightscribe tech...it is really strange....yes i have installed some software
lately. This are the programs: HP Product Detection
BySoft FreeRAM 4.0
Windows Live Messenger
Adobe ShockWave Player
Adobe Flash Player
LimeWire PRO 4.12.3

The hp product detection and the bysoft software are the only ones
i installed within 2 days, but it was after the DVD/CD stopped working...

every software i have installed on my notebook is Vista Compatible...

i apologize for my bad english i´m a little bit out of shape hehe...

Re: DVD/CD drivers are missing or corrupted or something

Code 39 may involve Adaptec:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/270008

Or, it may not (Adaptec isn't mentioned):

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060

The first article has the caveat, "There may be other third party CD-Writing
Software that exhibit similar behavior. Some or all of these
troubleshooting steps can apply to them if they also add entries
under the UpperFilters or LowerFilters registry values...". The second
article, in essence, is the same article as the first, with "Adaptec Easy CD
Creator" changed to "DVD recording program".

In general:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310123

Posters in various forums across the internet, for quite some time now, have
had success with the solution Microsoft has offered for this error code, and
it oftentimes has nothing to do with Adaptec files, or the removal thereof,
on their system (Google "error code 39"). And, for some, too, the solution
hasn't worked. Given the fact that the OP has already stated that an HP
Technician had the OP try the same registry edit that I referenced, without
attaining a successful conclusion, the point has become moot, at least for
jmurillo.

Re: DVD/CD drivers are missing or corrupted or something

Code 39 was always a HP DVD\CD ROM issue with their Adaptec software as far back as I can remember. It was first brought up with W95 and has been the same ever since.

Re: DVD/CD drivers are missing or corrupted or something

Thank you all for the suggestions...i don´t know how but a restarted the
notebook with no more resources to try and by a miracle the driver
re-installed correctly...i really don´t know how that happened...hehe, but
now there ir another problem, the speakers, i can not ear any sound from
them, and the driver is ok...there is no problem with the driver...i have an
HP Pavilion dv6174cl and the sound device is Conexant High Definition Audio,
any suggestions????

Thank you all...i think it was all the things you suggested that make it
work again...

Thanks....

Reocurring Issue with same DVDRAM

Hello,

I have a similar issue with my DVDRAM which keeps happening over and over. I've used the strategy in this thread several times. My HP DV9005US will then find the DVDRAM and load the driver properly. But then without warning the driver will stop working.
HP thinks the drive needs to be remounted, but I tried using an external drive and it too would not load the driver properly. Very puzzling.
remounting the drive on a laptopt might be quite a project.

Does anyone else have this reoccurring problem?

I.
