No audio with Logitech QuickCam Messenger

Since installing the Dell upgrade to Vista my Logitech QuickCam Messenger
only works on video the is no audio. I have installed the new Vista
compatable driver from the Logitech website but on the adio tuning wizard
screen no sound is detected. Has anyone had the same problem?

Re: No audio with Logitech QuickCam Messenger

Many webcams require a firmware update, not just an driver update, to run
properly under Vista. Check with Dell on your particular model.

Re: No audio with Logitech QuickCam Messenger

When I first installed Vista the webcam was updated automatically would this
have included a firmware update?

Re: No audio with Logitech QuickCam Messenger

No, that is usually supporting software and driver updates, files used by
the operating system to address the webcam. A firmware update is a change to
the instruction set that is housed in the electronics of the webcam itself.

Logitech have a support site you should visit to get Vista drivers and
software for your webcam.. Logitech does not charge for this service..

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/su...oads/&cl=us,en

Ironic. I bought a Logitech Quickcam Pro 5000, because my old Intel webcam
wasn't compatible with Vista.
This one works fine on Vista.

Which model do you have?

its a quickcam lkd9 if that helps

Sorry, it doesn't help me. I looked on the Logitech site, but couldn't find
that model.
You might try asking at

Re: how do i make logitech webcam work on vista

A lot of Logitech stuff doesn't work with Vista. There's nothing thay can do
about it; you can find some discussion on this by searching the web.

My problem is that having tried and failed to install a webcam, at every
bootup I get a message about the Camera Connection Wizard failing, and can't
find a way to remove this.

Microsoft won't let me connect to their on-line help because they say my
email address is incompatible with their system (you have to use hotmail or
something and *I* don't want to).

This cam is quite old and quite discontinued. I gave mine to my daughter and
replaced it with a newer Vista compatible cam.

You need to lower your pride and acquire a hotmail account. You only need
to use it for Microsoft purposes.

Which Logitech QuickCam?
What driver version?

No problem with Logitech QuickCam Pro 5000 and version 11 .0 Vista drivers.

Re: No audio with Logitech QuickCam Messenger

This is probably an old post, but anyway, the above posts are incorrect. There is nothing whatsoever stopping logitech cams working, it is simply a commercial decision to not support the drivers so you and other are forced to buy additional hardware etc.
  1. Download the driver for XP from Logitech.
  2. Right click on the driver installation file and select properties, and compatability tab
  3. Select run as admin, and in XP
  4. Double click on downloaded installation file (dont proceed any further)
  5. Open Windows Directory and Programme Files
  6. Go to logitech folder created
  7. In this folder there will be the driver files.
  8. Copy all files from C:\Program Files\Logitech\QuickCamWebInstall\Drivers\WinNew\M SGR to somewhere else like a new folder in C:
  9. Go to Device Manager
  10. Right click on the camera (or if you simply reinsert the camera it will come up with the wizard).
  11. Point the wizard to the new folder with the extracted drivers.
