| Vista (64bit Ultimate) reports only 1 Core on new AMD X2 CPU
Can anyone confirm this? Running Vista 64bit Ulitmate and upgraded my Single Core AMD to an X2. I was expecting Device Manager and Task Manager to show 2 cores but instead only shows one. Does Vista show Dual Core CPU's as a single device by design or is there something wrong here and if so....anyone know how to resolve this? Thanks in advance |

Ok...done some research and it appears that the HAL needed to be replaced. This sorted it. My 64 bit Ultimate Vista lists two cpus in Device manager but not in performance manager or even when I run Intels ID program. Yet bios is up to date and if I boot to Xp on other drive, both cores are being used.
