What version of Roxio? I'm running EMC 7.5 and all the apps work except the
3 Sonic apps, Backup MyPC (doesn't install), Cineplayer and MyDVD SlideShow
(won't run). The burning apps and the rest of the Roxio apps work. Most of
EMC 9 works.

Hmm. Sounds to me like it is incompatible. (-:

Really, a person shouldn't have to pick and choose - unless he wants to.

Agreed, but I never used any of those Sonic programs anyway. I think I
looked at Backup MyPC once, but using drive imaging I saw no reason to
explore it, so when the three Sonic apps didn't work, it didn't bother me at
all. On the Roxio side of the suite there are 17 apps, which all seem to
work, though I regularly use only a handful. Actually that's a good example
of a reason not to get a suite, many times you don't use what's there. It
was a great price though so I went with it. The upgrade to EMC 9 is around
$80, not cheap, and for me not worth it since the 3 apps that didn't work I
didn't care about.

My problem is that I have learned to rely on Drag-To-Disk and that doesn't
work under Vista.

It works for me with EMC 7.5. Does it not work with EMC 9?

The solution is to uninstall the offending program before you upgrade.

Re: Driver "Sonic Solutions DLA" blocked due to compatibility issu

If I order a new Dell computer with Vista installed and specify "NO
preinstalled software" may I assume that the sonic dla problem does not occur?
The general opinion here seems to be that the roxio package is at fault.

I had the problem at start up.
I uninstalled Roxio drag to disc in control panel and problem has gone.
Give it a try.

I understand that most programs are not going to be compatable with the new
vista operating systems but also that doesn't explain why it comes installed
in the computer! I am also having trouble with roxio and it came with this
computer it was not a add on program!
