ASUS A8R 32-MVP/ Realtek ALC 882 Audio WDM & Codec Problems

I am using a Asus motherboard that has Realtek ALC 882 onboard. I have recently installed Windows Vista 64 bit edition operating system on my machine and after that am having issues with the sound that is not working anymore. The drivers WNT_5.1p or WNT_6.0P which i am using is not supported and therefore I edited it to the audio files using notepad. When checked in Device Manager it says that it is installed properly. But when I check in the quick launch area, I have that red x mark on the speaker and the Volume control. It even says that no audio device is installed. Is there any other workaround to get this thing to work?

I have the following workaround that may work for you. First go to the Realtek Website and then download the beta driver and install it on your computer. After that click on Start and then >> Control Panel >> Audio Devices and themes >> double click on Realtek >> select properties >> then dont select the Realtek Digital Output >> Apply and ok. Check if this method works for you or not.

I used your method and it worked for me but even after that I dont have actual sound. I have checked that I have all the icons and options that shows that I still have sound on my system. I think that untill Realtek releases the 64 bit version of the drivers for Vista operating system, we will have to stick to our old OS.
