| Lexmark driver won't install scanner driver
I've been trying to get my all-in-one printer to work. I've downloaded the software many times and also talked to Lexmark Technican. Everything works except the scanner. I go to device manager and it won't install driver. It says error encountered and will not work. |

| Re: Lexmark driver won't install scanner driver Does the Lexmark site have both driver and application code for the version of Vista 32 bit or 64 bit that you are running? If an older printer then the application may have to be installed and run in XP compatibility mode. | Re: Lexmark driver won't install scanner driver
The website has both Windows Vista 32 and 64 bit application for drivers. The problem lies with the OS. Somewhere along the way, the OS will not let me download the scanner part of the driver. Thanks for the reply Gord "Curious" wrote: > > Does the Lexmark site have both driver and application code for the version > of Vista 32 bit or 64 bit that you are running? > If an older printer then the application may have to be installed and run in > XP compatibility mode. > |

If Lexmark support via e-mail does not have a solution to your problem then I don't think any of us here can help either especially if the Lexmark unit is not a current product. Well I actually talked to a rep for about 2 - 3 hours on the phone. He tried a his usual tricks but to no avail. What I am thinking is that there must a file on Windows OS that is corrupted or something like that that won't let me download the scanner driver. | Re: Lexmark driver won't install scanner driver
Do I understand you correctly that there are two drivers for your all in printer, one for all functions but the scanner function and another driver for the scanner functions? Or is the "scanner driver" you refer to actually scanner application software? If you are able to download one and not the other then you possibly have antivirus software that is blocking the second download. | Re: Lexmark driver won't install scanner driver
It is one driver download but it seems that it won't download the scanner portion because everything works on the printer like copy, photo and text from the computer. I've tried to download without antivirus and without firewall but still no luck. This is my second all in one with the same problem. I thought it might be the software but they both will not let me scan. Thanks Gord "Curious" wrote: > Do I understand you correctly that there are two drivers for your all in > printer, one for all functions but the scanner function and another driver > for the scanner functions? > Or is the "scanner driver" you refer to actually scanner application > software? > If you are able to download one and not the other then you possibly have > antivirus software that is blocking the second download. > > |

Are you download the Driver(s) in to a folder your PC and then installing them or are you trying to install them directly from the internet? What is the actual message you get when the failure occurs? If you download them into a file on your PC and run the install from the PC have you tried running the install in XP compatibility mode? | Re: Lexmark driver won't install scanner driver
I've tried to download them from the CD and also the internet. These are Vista drivers. The tech tried everything thru remote connection. Spend many hours doing all sorts of tricks but to avail. In Device Manager there is a yellow warning that the drivers are not installed properly. I tried to Update drivers from there but get a message that drivers didn't install properly. I also downloaded a old webcam with new drivers and worked fine but there are other drivers that I tried to update from there and get the same error message. The computer is sending information out to the printer, but cannot receive information back, such as from the scanner. |

| Re: Lexmark driver won't install scanner driver
I know this is an older thread and its about vista but hopefully windows 7 and vista had the same problem. I did not have any issues installing my lexmark x9350 in windows7 32 bit mode but when I went to install it to windows 7 64 bit mode i was unable to scan like you are speaking of. After speaking with great ole tech support at lexmark :( They told me all kinds of incorrect information and said i needed to buy a new printer bahh. Well i was trying to scan wirelessly and it would not work. If I went throught the USB it worked just fine. Without telling you everything i tried to get it working, ill explain the basics. What basically needs to happen is that you need to install the wireless version of the drivers 1st which will look like everything is installing but in reality it is only installing the printer information for whatever reason. So after it is installed make sure you can print wirelessly. Now go back and run the wired installation and choose new driver do not update existing driver. Once that gets finished make sure you can print and scan on the new one you installed. You should now have 2 printers 1 that can print wirelessly only and a 2nd that can do everything but that is hardwired. It will be an obvious difference in windows 7 because the network printer looks very basic and the usb one actually looks like the printer itself. Now we need to swap the ports on the printers. Go to either of the printers and right click on it and choose printer properties. Then choose the ports tab at the top. Change the one that is set to USB to the 9300 series port and vice versa on the other. So now you should have in essence the usb printer running on the wireless network and the wireless now running on usb. Go back to the printer you just configured for wireless and you need to get into the print queue. Right click on the printer and click on see whats printing. In the print queue click on the printer button in the top left and uncheck the box that says use printer offline. Unplug the usb and make sure that the printer can print, the scanning only works from the controls on the printer itself but it does work. If this works you are up and going and enjoy if not sometimes you have to refresh the printer. Do this by either turning it off waiting a few seconds and turning it back on. Sometimes you need to go back into the ports section I mentioned above and click on the 9300 port and choose configure port and then just hit okay which makes it ping the printer. Hope this helps others out there. This may work with differnt configurations also such as parallel cable, ethernet cable, etc. Just use one that works then convert it over to the one you want. :) |
