Vista Will NOT Recognize 2nd SATA Hard Drive!

I have recently purchased a Seagate 250 GB SATA hard drive and have installed it in the bay 2 area of my HP laptop. But, on my Windows Vista system this second drive is not getting recognized. When I check in Disk Manager by going to the Computer Management console, it wont show up there as well. But if i go into BIOS settings then the drive is listed there properly. So, does anyone know what kind of issue is this? Thanks for any advice.

Even i face this same problem on my pc but to solve this issue I normally delete the IDE ATA/ATAPI controller by going into Device Manager. After that I simply restart the computer and then the controller is reinstalled all by itself and the hard drive starts to work properly without any issues. Hope that this helps anybody who faces this problem.

I dont think that Sata drives require any kind of jumper settings to get it recognized in the computer. So what you can do is google the model of the hard drive that you have and then look at their manufacturer's website to download the proper drivers and install it in your pc. Also check in the BIOS setting of the motherboard, whether there is some options to enable the Sata drive or so.
